About Corralejo

Corralejo is a town on the island of Fuerteventura, which is one of the seven islands of the Canary Islands, an autonomous community of Spain. The Canary Islands are off the west coast of Morocco in the Atlantic Ocean. Corralejo is famous for having the most stunning beaches in all of Fuerteventura. It’s a beautiful resort town, with strong winds, perfect for water sports enthusiasts.

The best time of year to visit Corralejo is during the spring and autumn months, but you’ll most likely have warm weather all year-round. The winter months of November through February typically have more rainfall than other times of the year. The summer is busy, with lots of tourists visiting Fuerteventura, but it’s a great time to visit if you want long hours of sunlight and high temperatures to enjoy the beaches.

To get to Corralejo, most visitors arrive by ferry to the port, Puerto del Rosario or flight to the airport of Fuerteventura. From the airport to Corralejo, it’s about a 30-minute drive. Renting a car is the best way to get around the island, but if you want to stay in Corralejo during the majority of your time, you could take a taxi from the airport to Corralejo, and explore the town on foot.

Corralejo Boat Rentals

Renting a boat in Corralejo is an excellent way to spend your vacation on this stunning island. Cruise around on a rented catamaran sailboat and admire the volcanic terrain of Fuerteventura. On a catamaran charter, you can enjoy a meal and drinks onboard, with a captain to take you to all the best spots around Corralejo. Let the strong winds of this island power your boat, sailing and soaking up the sun on the deck of your ship, or stopping for a swim and snorkel.

If you prefer a quick tour, rent a rib boat or motor yacht to cruise around at high speeds. You can go to the remote Isla de Lobos, an island that is a nature preserve just off the coast of Corralejo. The main beach, Playa de la Concha has stunning clear waters, perfect for stopping for a snorkel. Rent a boat and stop at Isla de Lobos, jump out and explore, where you can see rare birds and other wildlife.

Want to see more wildlife but onboard a boat, book a glass-bottom boat tour while in Corralejo to see fish, dolphins, and other marine life swim below your boat as you cruise around the Atlantic.

Would you rather spend the day catching and reeling in fish? Book a fishing charter from Corralejo to enjoy a day on a boat, catching fish with an experienced captain to take you to all the best spots. When you book a fishing charter, the equipment, bait, and tackle will all be included and provided for most rentals.

If you’re a scuba enthusiast, there is a lot of excellent scuba diving to enjoy while in Corralejo. Enjoy a day boat diving, swimming among fish and exploring over 30 dive sites around the islands. This part of the Canary Islands is more remote than Tenerife or Gran Canaria, so you’ll see lots of marine life and a preserved underwater world.

If you’re a sporty traveler visiting Corralejo, consider renting a kayak or stand-up paddleboard to explore the coastline of Fuerteventura. Row yourself and get an upper-back workout while on vacation. It’s a fantastic way to combine sunbathing with exercise and adventure. You can rent a board or kayak on your own or choose a guided group tour to take you around Corralejo.

In February, the Fuerteventura Wave Classic Windsurf Championships take over Cotillo, with professional windsurfers from around the world joining together for exciting competitions.

Kiteboarding and windsurfing world and speed championships take place at Playa Sotavento near Costa Calma, which is on the southern coast of Fuerteventura. There are also kayaking competitions, surfing competitions, and other watersports which take place throughout the year in Fuerteventura.

Other Things To Do

The beaches in Corralejo are some of the best on the whole island. There are many cafes and restaurants nearby, where you can stop for a drink to take a break from sunbathing. The beaches are windy and suitable for water and wind sports rentals. It’s an especially great place to try surfing.

Marinas in Corralejo

There are several marinas located right in Corralejo. Take a walk by Catlanza Catamaran and watch as Catamarans and sailboats cruise in and out of the harbor. Admire the sunset over the water with the boats moored in their berths in the foreground. Stop in a restaurant near the marina for a lovely meal beside the port.
