There are two types of fishing in Southwest Florida, off-shore and backcountry–I fish the backcountry. The coastal and backcountry waters of Southwest Florida are defined by endless miles of mangrove estuaries forming unlimited creeks and bays. Snook, redfish, tarpon, trout, pompano, bonita, sharks and other saltwater species are in abundance depending on the time of year. In addition dolphins, manatees, egrets, herons, bald eagles, osprey and host of other wildlife is abundant. Fly Fishing – A quick note on fly fishing if that’s your preference. Saltwater fly fishing is much different than freshwater fly fishing and is very challenging. In freshwater when you spot a rising fish you can recast until you get that perfect drag free drift. In saltwater when sight fish a quick, accurate cast is necessary. PRICES - Half Day (4 hrs) $400 - 3/4 Day (6 hrs) $550 - Full Day (8 hrs) $750, rates are for two anglers, a third angler is additional - $50
I’ve been guiding and fishing the backcountry of south Florida for over 25 years. I received my USCG license in 1987. In 1990, I was invited to join the Orvis Endorsed guide staff. In 1992 this turned into the Everglades Angler Fly shop. For sixteen years I ran the shop, Guide Service and guided part-time. Missing the water, in 2009, I went back to guiding full-time and doing what I love, being on the water, fishing, meeting new people and enjoying the outdoors. I especially love kids, helping them catch fish and teaching them about the wonders of this special estuary. “Spin, plug or fly fishing, I love it all”I fish out of 18′ Silver King Flats boat. It’s a specialized backcountry skiff designed to float in shallow water yet can take a chop if we’re out in the gulf chasing bonita, sharks, tarpon or triple tail. It’s extremely stable and is a fishing machine
