What To Know About Renting a Boat in Seattle
With saltwater to the west and freshwater to the east, Seattle offers a plethora of boating opportunities. A Puget Sound boat rental is one of the best ways to enjoy the stunning nature of the Pacific Northwest. If you’re feeling up for a longer voyage, boat rentals in Seattle give you many opportunities to charter a boat. Cruise the Puget Sound during the week or head up north to the San Juan Islands and the Inside Passage to Alaska. If you’re looking for a day out on the water, you can trailer your boat to larger lakes or rent a powerboat by the hour or by the day. If you don't want to rent or charter a boat on your own, you can also book a boat tour with a group to see more of Seattle and learn about the city from the water. It's a great way to gain a new perspective of a place you're traveling to.
Enjoy sailing a small watercraft or even take a tour in a kayak or canoe on Green Lake and Lake Union to the north, or Lakes Washington and Sammamish inland. Fishing charters in Seattle— a popular activity in the Sound— are also available if you are looking for large catches. And because of its ideal position at the northwest corner of the United States, Seattle has many cruise options available, either going north to Alaska or south to Mexico. It's a great jumping off point for exploring the nature and beauty of the west coast of North America.
Seattle offers a perfect playground for marine animals— and whale watching is an activity that cannot be passed up. Anytime from March to October, you can expect to see either gray whales, orcas, minkes, and humpbacks, not to mention the sea lions, porpoises, and seabirds who also inhabit the area near Seattle. Seeing whales in their natural environment is an experience that cannot be matched by going to a zoo or aquarium. It's the most ecologically responsible and sustainable way to enjoy the beauty of these animals without supporting the cruelty that comes with keeping them in captivity.
For water sports enthusiasts, Seattle is a great place to try something exciting. Book a wakeboarding trip in Seattle or try parasailing to fly over Puget Sound with a parachute. Corey and Colleen were an extreme pleasure to cruise with. The experience was 100% wonderful. The boat is super clean and very comfortable. Corey is a very experience captain and brought us to see many interesting houses and sites, his communications were prompt and clear. Colleen is so wonderful with taking care of everyone, she took lots of picture for us and made sure everyone had a great time. We were able to stop an take a dip in the lake as well. Everything you could ask for, they thought of it before you need to ask. We highly recommend you taking a cruise with them! You will likely rebook, just as we will!
We celebrated Father's Day in Corey's boat and it was the best celebration ever. His boat has the perfect size for 4 kids and 4 adults. Amazing attention. The boat is super nice and clean. We would love to travel again with him.
Our sailing experience was perfect, this was our first time chartering a catamaran, and I can say I'm impressed with every aspect of both the boat and the professionalism of Captain Matt. I never realized how much room there is on a big catamaran, we never felt cramped or crowded, and how stable it would be. We had great weather, but even with the wakes of the cargo ships we barely felt anything. At night in the harbors the ever so slight rocking of the boat puts you to sleep with ease. A note of caution though, if you spend anytime lounging up on the bow nets, make sure you put on sunscreen, as you'll be asleep before you know it. We left for our trip from Port Orchard, and stayed the first night in Mats Mats Bay, which was previously unknown to my wife and I. What a beautiful spot. After breakfast the next morning we headed up to Port Townsend, and spent the better part of a day enjoying the sites and shopping. Then we sailed south to Elliott Bay, knocked out some paddle boarding and sailed over to the Seattle harbor to watch the sun go down and the city lights come on. What an awesome experience. The next morning we tendered into Blake Island for a relaxing hike around the nature preserve, then back to Port Orchard where Captain Matt had to pry us off his boat. (Not literally, we just didn't want our long weekend to end.) I can't say enough about how much fun we had, and how nice this charter was. I would recommend it to anyone. Captain Matt told us that he has sailed this boat half way around the world, and after watching how he handles it I have no doubt he could sail around the other half without a problem. After this charter my wife and I are torn between purchasing our own boat, vs chartering the Mikmawi again when we get the sailing bug.
Captain Corey was wonderful and the boat was wonderful! Definitely will book again in the future!
James was a great host and captain. We got to see lake union and the fancy houses on the coast of lake washington.
Duffy is a beautiful boat and in a superb location. We had a great time and can’t wait to rent it again!
