What To Know About Renting a Boat in Seattle

With saltwater to the west and freshwater to the east, Seattle offers many boating opportunities. A Puget Sound boat rental is one of the best ways to enjoy the stunning nature of the Pacific Northwest. If you’re feeling up for a longer voyage, boat rentals in Seattle give you many opportunities to charter a boat. Cruise the Puget Sound during the week or head up north to the San Juan Islands and the Inside Passage to Alaska. If you’re looking for a day out on the water, you can trailer your boat to larger lakes or rent a powerboat by the hour or by the day. If you don't want to rent or charter a boat on your own, you can also book a boat tour with a group to see more of Seattle and learn about the city from the water. It's a great way to gain a new perspective of a place you're traveling to.

Enjoy sailing a small watercraft or even take a tour in a kayak or canoe on Green Lake and Lake Union to the north, or Lakes Washington and Sammamish inland. Fishing charters in Seattle— a popular activity in the Sound— are also available if you are looking for large catches. And because of its ideal position at the northwest corner of the United States, Seattle has many cruise options available, either going north to Alaska or south to Mexico. It's a great jumping-off point for exploring the nature and beauty of the west coast of North America.

Seattle offers a perfect playground for marine animals— and whale watching is an activity that cannot be passed up. Anytime from March to October, you can expect to see gray whales, orcas, minkes, and humpbacks, not to mention the sea lions, porpoises, and seabirds who also inhabit the area near Seattle. Seeing whales in their natural environment is an experience that cannot be matched by going to a zoo or aquarium. It's the most ecologically responsible and sustainable way to enjoy the beauty of these animals without supporting the cruelty that comes with keeping them in captivity.

For water sports enthusiasts, Seattle is a great place to try something exciting. Book a wakeboarding trip in Seattle or try parasailing to fly over Puget Sound with a parachute. Water sports are a fun way to enjoy the outdoors and get an adrenaline rush during your travels, and GetMyBoat has a lot of options!

Make sure to check boat rentals in areas nearby Seattle when choosing a location to spend your day on the water. Popular boating destinations nearby include Edmonds, Des Moines, Gig Harbor, Tacoma, Lake Tapps, Shoreline, and Port Orchard.

Classic Trawler for Lake Union Lake WA tours, Karaoke system, 2 eFoil boards

Captain Dan was the best! He saved the day last minute when my original captain canceled due to engine issues. It was raining but had the whole boat covered up so we were plenty warm! The surround system was great and there was plenty of space for tons of food. I’m definitely booking this boat again and will do karaoke next time. Everyone had the best time and highly recommend Dan if you want a guaranteed fun time!

TJ is an absolute pleasure to work with. The boats are always great, with little treats ready for us as we board, and paperwork all lined up to make the launch quick and easy. Communication is fast and clear - we'll certainly be renting from her again.

Wow, what a great day we had! Alexander was not only extremely responsive, but he offered local tips & tricks to help us get the most out of our first-time navigating Lake Union and provided an immaculate boat. The little extras, like ice waiting in the chest for us was an appreciated surprise, thank you!

TJ's Stingrays 198 LX - Gas incl. Mercer Island, Lake Washington

We loved renting the 6 person Stingray from TJ today. We were met at the launch where everything about the boats operation was explained in detail. It was the perfect boat to sightsee around Lake Washington and watch the beautiful sunset. TJ’s boat was super clean and equipped with all the features necessary for a fun safe day on the lake. Not only did we sight see, we stopped, swam and had a lovely picnic on boat. We most certainly will rent from TJ again when in the area.

Priscila was on point with her communication and responded to all of my questions promptly. She also helped me navigate and find the boat on a day when the dock was pretty crowded. The guests had a really good time overall. Would highly recommend anyone to rent with her.
