What You Can Expect:

Our tour will get you up close to all the major landmarks of the San Francisco Bay: Alcatraz, Angel Island, Golden Gate Bridge, the skylights of the city, and more.

We will depart from the Marina Bay Yacht Harbor, original site of Rosie the Riveter, and sail toward Angel Island. Crossing the Raccoon Strait, we will then sail along the bayside towns of Tiburon and Sausalito for an up-close view.

Depending of the weather and current, we will spend sometime savoring the view of the Golden Gate Bridge – an iconic landmark of the San Francisco Bay. The wind will push us back between the city piers and Alcatraz Island – the site of the first lighthouse and the infamous federal penitentiary.

We will then sail along Treasure Island and Berkeley, bringing us back to Marina Bay.

What to Expect Onboard:

Balajan has been designed for the comfort of her passengers. Her large cockpit with a table and a hard top bimini brings enough space for at least 6 guests. She is fully equipped with a galley, stove, fridge and freezer. With 3 cabins and 2 electric heads (toilets),  our guests will appreciate her comfort. She is perfectly equipped for offshore sailing (Balajan has been crossing three times the Panama Canal!) and meets all the requirements of the U.S. Coast Guard.

Where and when will we meet?

We will meet in the parking lot by the Harbor Master’s office in Marina Bay Yacht Harbor in Richmond, CA – 1340 Marina Way South, Richmond, CA 94801. Tours begin at 10 am. However, we can accommodate other prearranged start times.

What do I need to bring on the boat?

  • Warm clothes! San Francisco Bay can be cold and very windy, even during the summer. Layering your clothing allows you to make quick adjustments based on changes in the weather.
  • Dress casual for your personal comfort
  • Bring sunglasses, sunscreen and a hat (for sun or to keep warm)
  • Wear close toe, non-marking shoes (Ex: white rubber-soled tennis shoes)
  • Pack your own lunch (sorry but we don’t know your preferences). We will provide light snacks, soft drinks, bottled water, coffee and tea.

What items are not allowed on the boat?

  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Cigarettes
  • Black/dark soled shoes
  • High heels, open-toed shoes
  • Glass containers
  • Pets

Can we bring our Kids?

Unfortunately, we do not allow children under the age of eight (8); please note that children under 13 years of age must wear life jackets at all times.

What is the duration of the Tour?

A typical day cruise will run from 4 to 5 hours. Please note that we cannot guarantee an exact return time, thus you should plan accordingly.

Is the route for each Tour the same?

The route we take may vary depending of the weather, wind, tides and currents. However, we will do our best to follow the proposed route.

Are they any stops during the Tour?

Our Tour doesn’t include any stops as stopping points are limited and usually very crowded.

Can I be involved in boat navigation?

You may help to steer the boat and work the sails, as your Tour is also a sailing adventure. The Captain will make the final decision, depending on sailing conditions.

Are you proposing other Tours?

We are planning to offer sunset cruises, Napa and Petaluma weekend tours. Please contact us if you are interested.

What if I get seasick?

BALAJAN is a 38-foot catamaran, which includes two hulls. Because of this feature, she provided a very stable sailing as compared to the classic mono-hull sailboats. If you think you are prone to motion sickness, you may consider taking or bringing along medications used to treat or reduce the symptoms of motion sickness. We will also have some ginger cookies on board, which are pretty effective against seasickness.

Is it safe and do I need to wear a life jacket?

Your Safety is our first priority! Everybody will be briefed on safety procedures before each Tour. We recommend that all adult passengers wear a life jacket and they may have to do so if the Captain requests it. Children under 13 years of age must wear life jackets at all time.
