Private & Personalised Boat Tour with Tour Guide + Boat Driver in Venezia, Veneto

Nico is extremely well versed in the history of Venice and was able to give us detailed background of every part of the city. He created such a special experience for us and we learned so much. We even got a special tour of the factories in Murano. We can't wait to meet with Nico again when we are back in Venice.

Nico has a wealth of local knowledge and is able to communicate proficiently in English. We learned so much of the local history and culture while doing both a walking and a boat tour, thanks to him. We saw hidden canals and beautifully architectural buildings that would have been difficult to see on our own, particularly for a 2-night stay. Nico was also very helpful in coordinating the exact boat that met our needs and was super easy to communicate and flexible to customize our visit with specific sight-seeing requests. On the more personal side, Nico is very professional, friendly and has a fantastic sense of humor. I have already shared his contact with two friends who are visiting Venice later in the month. Highly recommended!

Nico was a perfect guide. He went all-in to make a perfect guided trip for us, which ended with a proposal for my girlfriend. Nico was very invested and supportive in creating the best possible scenario for the proposal, so I could only wish others could have the same amazing experience as we had.

Maistral Venezia Sailboat for 5 people in Venezia, Veneto

We are a family of 3 (one child) from the USA who spent half a day sailing with Fabio and we had a wonderful time. If someone wants to experience sailing a traditional Venetian sailboat on a beautiful boat with someone who is highly knowledgeable, safe, pleasant, and good at teaching you how to sail the boat based on your skill level and interest, then we highly recommend going out in this Topo chioggiotto with Fabio. When we booked the sail we were not sure what to expect. It was easily the best part of our trip to Venice.

The tour was exceptionally fun and a great way to get to know Venice. Nico was great in communication — even accommodating a last minute change in departure locations.

Boating Guide - Venice

About Venice

Venice is a gorgeous tourist city in northeastern Italy. While the architecture and physical appearance of the town has remained mostly unchanged over the course of centuries, the industry of Venice is now almost entirely reliant on tourism, with nearly 20 million tourists visiting annually.

The best time of year to visit Venice is between September and November after the unbearable tourist crowds have left the city and prices come down on accommodation and activities. If you don’t like crowds, do not visit in June, July, or August. These months are the busiest, most expensive, and have the highest heat. If you visit later in the winter, December through February, you run the risk of visiting during the annual Venice floods, which could ruin your vacation.

To get to Venice, you can take a flight to one of the city's three surrounding airports, arrive by bus from other cities in Italy, train to the local train station, or by ferry boat to one of Venice’s ports. Be sure to check where you’re arriving to make a plan to get to your accommodation, as Venice is a much larger and spread out city than most people seem to think. You will have to carry rolling luggage through some parts of the cobblestone streets. To get around once in the city, most people opt to walk or take a gondola ride through the canals.

Venice Boat Rentals

Beyond the idyllic gondolas of Venice, there are lots of enjoyable boating and water experiences a visitor can have while in the city. As long as you visit during a time where the floods aren’t taking over the city, consider renting a boat or booking a boat charter while in Venice. Charter a canal boat if you want the classic Venetian experience, and you’ll get an excellent tour with your boat guide.

One great type of boating experience to have in Venice are sailing lessons. Head out with a skipper to teach you how to navigate for a day. You’ll learn how to maneuver a gorgeous sailboat into the sea surrounding Venice. It’s an unforgettable experience and a memorable way to learn a new skill while you’re traveling.

Would you prefer to explore the canals by paddling yourself? Check out kayak rentals in Venice for an exciting day of exploring the channels with a guide and kayak group. It’s a great way to get some exercise during your travels and see Venice from a whole new perspective.

Want to go beyond kayaking and learn how the Venice gondoliers row the canal boats? You can book a lesson to learn with GetMyBoat! Dive into the rich history of Venice as you discover the techniques to steer a canal boat through the stunning waterways of the city.

If sailing and canal boats don’t interest you and you’d prefer to travel at a higher speed, consider renting a motor yacht or taking a massive passenger boat tour while in Venice. You’ll cruise through the lagoons and get an informative and fun tour from your captains. Boat tours are a great way to see more of the city if you do not want to spend all day walking the streets, and it’s great for elderly travelers too.

If you’re traveling with a large group or looking to host an event in Venice, like a wedding, consider a Gulet charter or a large motor yacht to accommodate all your guests. You’ll have an unforgettable time with your loved ones as you cruise through the lagoon and enjoy a meal and a full-service bar on board. Your captains and crew will work with your desired itinerary to make sure it’s the perfect experience you’ll never forget.

Venice Boating Events

With the rich history of Venice as a port and boating city, many races and boating events take place in Venice every year. Some of the most popular games include the Regata Storica Rowing Race, the Vogalonga Boat Races, and other smaller races organized by local marinas. There are also many fireworks events throughout the busy seasons in Venice, which are lovely to watch from a boat, so consult an events calendar to see if you can combine a fireworks experience while onboard.

Other Things To

There’s plenty to do beyond canal tours while in Venice. There are endless activities, points of interest, and enjoyable things to experience while you’re staying in this magical city. Take an Italian cooking class to exercise your gastronomic talents. Tour the Murano Glass factories and buy some gorgeous glass jewelry. Tour the other islands of Burano and Torcello.

One of the best things to do while in Venice is to wander around and get lost in the streets. You’ll discover charming cafes and restaurants. You can roam with your travel mates or opt for a guided tour if you’d like to learn more about the history of the city.

Marinas in Venice

There are many marinas and boat clubs throughout the city of Venice that you can pass by while having a wander. Marina Santelena, Marina Fiorita, and Marina del Cavallino are some of the best in the city. The marinas are gorgeous locations to check out in Venice, with restaurants and shops nearby. Sit and admire the boats bobbing in their berths, and watch the boat traffic dance in and out of the port while you sip a coffee or enjoy an Italian meal.
