About Sorrento

On the southwest coast of Italy, an hour outside of Naples, is Sorrento, a seaside city of beautiful architecture, beaches, and boats. The water is an alluring blue and the houses scattered up the hillside add a pop of color to the rocky cliffs. It’s a popular tourist stop for travelers passing through the Campania region of Italy. There are lots of restaurants and cafes for stopping and enjoying delicious Italian cuisine while taking in the captivating view of the sea.

The best time of year to visit Sorrento depends on personal preference. If you’re looking to enjoy the warm sunshine and beach, visit in the summer. It’s crowded during the peak months of July and August, and June through early September can be uncomfortably hot. The official swimming season runs from mid-May through October, and visiting in late September and October can be a great time to have good weather and fewer crowds. The winter is a good time to find good deals on accommodation and have peace and quiet, but it’s too cold to enjoy the sea or work on your tan. While the Amalfi Coast and some surrounding towns shut down completely in the winter months, Sorrento does stay open.

To get to Sorrento, the easiest way is to fly into the Naples airport. From here there is a bus that departs for Sorrento several times daily.
