The Fun Dive is a good way of trying the sport for half a day (2 hours), especially while sharing the experience with a few friends of your choice, or we can provide a group for you with planning. There is no need of hight performance athletes for the experience to be enjoyed altho your level of fitness is a factor to your performance. Basic Safety, Breathing, Equalizing, In Water Skills and Gear to be Used will be covered for a fun dive. There are several interesting subjects you can try while freediving for the first time. *People who smoke, drink and lazy around are welcome to join, along as they DO NOT mix any of those while in the group or previous to the experience. SSI Freediving Level 1 “Walk then Run” refers to the need of understanding basic knowledge and skills required to properly freedive so that further progress is obtained. Freediving skills reviewed on the course: • Breathing • Equalizing • Physics • Physiology • Technique • Gear • Safety SSI Digital Kit to be read at home 4 hours of classroom theory 2 hours of confined waters (pool or pool conditions cenote, max 5 meters deep) 2 hours of depth training (10 to 20 meters cenote or ocean) Must be able to swim comfortably. We include freediving gear (mask, snorkel, long fins) SI Freediving Level 3 “Master your Limits” After understanding deeper knowledge and specialized skills you will discover your true potential in freediving while keeping safe. We do not include freediving gear. Freediving Instructor Level 1 The next step in experienced freedivers is to share their knowledge and skills. Becoming a Freediving Professional is a very rewarding path in life, especially if you enjoy investing in yourself and love traveling, this program will provide you with the necessary tools to properly share knowledge and skills the SSI way and professionally profit on it while choosing where to live and work. The program requires that you are certified at least but not limited to SSI Level 2, which means comfortably freediving to depths of between 20 and 30 meters with instructor level technique, This in not a program to obtain the technique but to SHARE and TRANSFER it. The program includes subjects of SSI philosophy and story, freediving knowledge and Teaching/Learning information. It explains to detail the path in teaching within the SSI standards and the structure of an SSI course. • Homestudy • Classroom teaching structure • Confined water structure (both pool and cenote) • Open water structure (both cenote and ocean) We also focus on the practical application of this knowledge when facing day-to-day student situations, such as technique, equalizing trouble, CO2 tolerance. (becoming a friend/coach/guide) A lot of the content is reviewed on workshops both in the classroom and in water (confined and depth) and there is plenty of materials to be read before the course starts. The course takes all-around some 80 hours to be completed, depending on student progress more time might be needed. The agility skills to be completed for a successful SSI Freediving Instructor Level 1 are: *all the In Water Performance Requirements where the Instructor applicant has to use fins must be performed with Stereo fins (Bi-Fins) e.g. no mono fins. • Perform a swim of 800m (using mask, snorkel and fins) within 20min • Perform a swim of 400m (just bathing suit/ no gear) within 10 min (any stroke) • Freedive to minimum 20m depth competently/ on demand. • Ascend from 15m using arms only • Ascend from 15m with no mask • Freedive 20m achieving a minimum dive time of 1.00min. • Freedive to 15m and hang for an unknown time (30sec-1 min, which is determined by the FIT) then rescue another Freediver from simulated blackout (BO) from that depth. • Endurance examination – max 1min preparation, 5 dives to 15m with 1min surface interval between dives. Blackout rescue from 15m and demonstrate a 50m tow. • Perform pool disciplines Dynamic (DYN) – minimum 50m. • Perform pool disciplines Dynamic w/no fins (DNF) – minimum 25m. • Perform a Static breath-hold (STA) minimum of 2:30 minutes. SSI Freediving Training Getting certified is just the first step in the formal freediving life style, gathering the experience to develop those skills you learned and keeping agile underwater are a main part of your freediving. Don’t get rusty, keep wet!!! • Must be certified at least Freediving Level 1 • Must be Certified at Least Freediving Level 1 or equivalent.
