New Offering for 2022! The Melges 24 is a high-performance speed machine with an open cockpit, retractable bowsprit, and an asymmetrical spinnaker. This boat is a joy to sail and is actually easier than most boats because there is no overlapping jibs or winches, or a spinnaker pole. The jib is on a furler and can be easily rolled up or unrolled from the cockpit. This is a great boat to charter if you want to learn some spinnaker handling and experience some downwind speed. The powerful mainsail can be reefed in strong wind and you will learn how to adjust the sail plan to de power the boat. Unlike our other boat, the Hobie 33, this one can be wetter and requires some more effort on the part of the crew and requires "Hiking", basically sitting on the side of the boat with your legs over the side. Active crews will be rewarded with a fast exciting ride, planning over the water downwind with a lot of spray! There is a small cabin on the boat to place belongings. Please feel free to bring whatever you would like to eat or drink. Due to its smaller size, we can only accommodate 4 guests with a Captain. If you have some experience sailing sport boats with bowsprits you can bareboat charter it with 5 people. We have 2 sailing times daily 2 to 5PM and 5:30 to 8:30PM. The boat is available from July 1st through October 1st for sailing. If you prefer a more mellow protected experience please book our other boat the "Hobie 33". If you have any questions, we can answer those through GetMyBoat’s messaging platform before you pay. Just hit, “Send Inquiry” and send us an inquiry for a custom offer.
Nick is a great captain and a great person. He has a great knowledge of sailing and is happy to teach any willing participant.
My Grandfather taught me how to sail when I was 5 and I've loved it ever since. I bought my first Laser sailboat when I was 13 and was on Canada's National Sailing Team for 4 years trying for the 1996 Olympics. I've sailed 11 World Championships all over the world and coached performance sailing with International Sailing Academy in Mexico. I love taking people out and teaching them how to sail. It's easier than you think! - Nick
