We are back for 2023 starting May 15 and can't wait to sail with you! Take your family sailing for an afternoon or evening on beautiful Lake Tahoe with our skippered yacht "Aero". Aero is a 33 foot keelboat that is safe, easily controlled and is fun to sail. We can accommodate private groups of up to six people with ages 5 and up. Groups are not mixed so it's just you and your family/friends. We provide the lifejackets and you provide the smiles! Take the helm and learn how to sail or just sit back and relax. The cost is $600 for a 3-hour session daily. Sailing times are from 2 PM to 5 PM and 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM daily including weekends. Earlier sailing times are not available due to lack of wind. The boat type is called a Hobie 33 and you can google that for more information and pictures. She's built light and for speed and the boat actually raced to Hawaii twice in the Pacific Cup! There is a cabin on the boat to store coolers and clothing and you can bring whatever beverages and snacks that you like. We serve non - alcoholic beverages on the boat but you are welcome to bring alcohol if you like. Please know that the boat does not have a toilet on board but you can use the public restroom prior to boarding. The boat is moored on a buoy and so we take a rubber 5 person dinghy out to the boat to board her. If your group has six people we generally make two trips. Older people who are a bit wobbly may have difficulty boarding the boat so please keep that in mind. We meet at the Lake Forest Boat Ramp just outside Tahoe City in North Lake Tahoe 15 minutes prior to sailing time so you can get a full three hours of sailing! What to bring: Please have all of your group members wear close-toed shoes or sneakers. Bring some warm clothing as it can be colder on the water especially if its windy. Please do enquire if the boat is available for your desired day because the calendar on this site blocks out multiple time frames even if one is available. On the other motorboat listings, you'll see that a lot of trips are cut short due to high wind. Our sailing experience thrives on wind and we can get right out into the middle of the lake without using gas. We had an amazing time on our sailing adventure in Lake Tahoe. The whole process from reservation, communication to the sailing adventure was smooth. Definitely the highlight of our trip and the whole family enjoyed it. Thank you Nicholas and Tasha for everything!
Captain Nick is an experienced sailor with a lot to share with the ability to be as involved as you want to be. Our family truly enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend Captain Nick as a go to if you really want to experience sailing vs. being sailed around. Loves what he does and shares that with those that sail with him.
We had a wonderful time on Nick’s boat! Two of our friends had never been sailing before, so we weren’t sure how it was going to go, but Nick made everybody feel comfortable and his experience really showed. There was plenty of heeling, laughter and fun. We highly recommend this experience with Nick.
My family and I had an absolute wonderful time sailing on Lake Tahoe with Nick. Everything experienced was professional. Nick also took the time and energy to teach all on board as much as they wanted to learn about sailing, which was a lot!!!. During the course of the trip, we had complete confidence in his sailing skills and safety of the vessel. Such a magical and wonderful Tahoe experience. Thank you Nick
Our family of four had a great time on Nick’s sailing boat today. It was a wonderful experience for my kids to learn about sailing and helping Nick with fun tasks. We definitely much prefer this over just get on the boat and sit there and do nothing like with other cruise or boat options. The weather was perfect in early Aug from 2-5p. No jacket needed!
My Grandfather taught me how to sail when I was 5 and I've loved it ever since. I bought my first Laser sailboat when I was 13 and was on Canada's National Sailing Team for 4 years trying for the 1996 Olympics. I've sailed 11 World Championships all over the world and coached performance sailing with International Sailing Academy in Mexico. I love taking people out and teaching them how to sail. It's easier than you think! - Nick
