Gil Eanes Expedition - Sea Safari from Lisbon

4 bookings

Forget the cold monuments built in tribute of past explorers. Sail through the gates of Lisbon' and become yourself an explorer! Come and meet those who first sailed the Portuguese coast, the dolphins and the seabirds. This experience is ideal for those looking for a quick break away from the civilization. Admire the wild landscape, the dolphins, seabirds and other marine life from the comfort of a spacious and cosy sailing trimaran. Captain Gil Eanes only rounded Cape Bojador in North Africa, but this was a debut for all the navigators who thought that the world ended there. We will head south by the fossil cliff which maintains its natural appearance with extensive wild beaches, where dolphins usually feed. Our specialist biologist on board will take you on a learning quest, from the ancient coast history to the magnificent creatures of the Ocean. Dolphins, seabirds, pelagic fish like sharks, whales and sea turtles are examples of the marine life that inhabit these waters. You will learn the differences between species and their way of living. Our research boat enables you to observe them close to an arm’s reach but it still is spacious enough to walk around. There are wide seating spots where you can enjoy our didactic material, the Sun. We are the only licenced dolphin watching agency departing from Lisbon. All expeditions are genuine scientific surveys where a biologist is always present collecting valuable data and you are our guests. Everyone is invited to experience the “shoes” of a researcher, learning how to identify and photograph dolphins like a professional. As we like to be one with the environment, we will combine the sails and the engine to reach the desired speeds.

I'm a Marine Biologist and I love everything about the Ocean! Sailing became a part of my recent work, as I run a company focused on sailing and whale watching tours. Besides being a sailing aficionado, I'm also a curious scientist and I can give you also information on other subjects like geology, oceanography and talk about the history of my city, Lisbon!
