The airport is operational, cruise ships have returned, water and power are back and hotels are open. San Juan and the popular destinations are ready to welcome visitors and you’ll find plenty of places to eat and enjoy the local culture in the evening. One of the northernmost islands in the Caribbean, Puerto Rico is aptly named. “Rico” means rich in Spanish and this island is positively overflowing with natural riches. First settled some 4,000 years ago, the island is part of an archipelago that includes Vieques, Culebra, with its 28 uninhabited islands, Culebrita, Cayo Luis Pena and Palomino Island. Sparkling beaches, such as La Perla and Flamenco, wrap around the main island’s forests and towns, and cover the many smaller surrounding islands. With so many uninhabited islands, there’s plenty of unspoiled paradise for you to discover. Explore the Mona Island, the “Galapagos of the Caribbean”, UNESCO forts and, of course, try the delicious local rum and piña coladas. If you love wildlife, there are 20 beautiful forests, such as El Yunque National Forest with 20 species of orchid. La Coca waterfall is worth a visit, as are the bioluminescent bays, such as Mosquito Bay, where the waters glow as you swim. If you are a foodie, order mofongo, a mound of mashed fried plantains and one of Puerto Rico’s most famous dishes. Frequently Asked Question Everything you need to know about bareboat yacht charters. What is a bareboat yacht charter? A bareboat yacht charter is where you hire the boat for you and your guests and intend to sail yourself or hire one of our skippers to sail it for you. Where do you offer bareboat charters? We have +50 destinations worldwide and +1,000 yachts, including the Caribbean, Bahamas, Pacific, Indian Ocean, Asia and the Americas. What licenses do I need to hire a yacht and sail myself? The skipper of a yacht has primary responsibility for the safety of the crew and yacht at all times. To charter in the Mediterranean, you must hold an ICC (International Certificate of Competence) or RYA Day Skipper (minimum) qualification. One sailing license is mandatory for bareboat charters in Italy, Sweden, Greece, Turkey, Croatia, Seychelles, Montenegro, Brazil, Thailand and Spain. The original certificate must be taken with you on your charter. We advise you to contact our team about your qualifications and the destination requirements before booking. By accepting the yacht contract you are confirming that you and/or members of your crew are capable and competent to sail the yacht in the conditions and cruising area of charter. We reserve the right not to hand over the yacht if, after inspection, it is the opinion that the charterer is not, or may not be competent to be in charge of the vessel. What is included? • Yacht, dinghy & outboard • Marina mooring: First and last night at our base • Fuel and water: All of our yachts are delivered to you with full tanks of fuel (yacht & dinghy), full tank of water, one bottle of cooking gas + one spare. Please note that contents vary by destination • Damage waiver: Insurance with a lower excess has been added to your quote and is mandatory in some destinations. You can pay a higher damage waiver deposit at the base, which is fully refundable if there is not any damage or loss to the boat, dinghy and equipment. The damage waiver, or refundable security deposit, is designed to cover one incident of a substantial nature at any one time. In the case of loss or damage to equipment of significant value, such as the outboard engine or dinghy, you have the right to an immediate replacement while on the charter What is not included? Our yachts are well maintained and undergo regular, scheduled technical inspection. In case of emergency, you can rely on our hotline, at any time, seven days a week. If you experience a technical failure affecting major and important parts of the yacht, we will repair the failure within four hours of receiving your call during working hours (8am to 5pm). If you lose more than four hours (during working hours), we will compensate you for one full day.
