The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) is the world's most popular diving organization and because of the undeniable success learning an excellent base for diving lessons in the leisure area of Open Water through to Divemaster. Discover Scuba Diving from the shore No previous experience is required for introductory diving. In small groups of maximum 4 people, we first meet at the beach to speak about all important information in terms of theory so we feel safe and confident knowing what we can do and cannot do underwater. Following, we enter our underwater class room, meaning that we start training in the water, but very close to shore where it is very shallow and almost no current is present. Learning how to handle the basic functions of your scuba diving equipment and how to properly breathe and move underwater are the crucial skills we have to learn. We then realize a complete dive at a very close and shallow reef admiring the colorful underwater scenery. The reef is called Villa Blanca and dives there typically have a duration of over 45 minutes to a maximum depth of around 33ft (10m). Everything is included in the price: Transport to the beach and back to the center of San Miguel de Cozumel, tanks, diving equipment of the appropriate size, private diving instructor, theoretical and practical lessons and a full dive. Discover Scuba Diving from a boat Discover Scuba Diving from a boat is also a possibility, but it is mandatory to first realize the theoretical and practical introduction with respective in-water skill training as in the DSD from shore, because those skills cannot be taught in the open ocean. This includes transport to the harbor and back from downtown San Miguel de Cozumel, boat ride to 2 different dive sites in the south of the island, 2 tanks, full set of Scuba Diving gear, marine park entree fee, private instructor and lunch. Open Water Diving Course For the beginners' course called Open Water we usually need 3-4 days. You have to prepare some theory with a book or video and then compare and discuss it with your instructor. In addition, there are some activities to learn the skills and to be able to use the equipment correctly that we do from the beach. The conditions are ideal for beginners because there is shallow water like in a pool, but you can see a lot of animals during the exercises. Each lesson in the water includes a dive from the beach on a beautiful, shallow reef (up to 9m) to apply what you have learned directly. The course is completed with two dives from the boat on the best reefs on the island in the south (Palancar, Santa Rosa, Paso de Cedral, etc) to a depth of 18m where we can now apply and savor everything we have learned and see sharks, turtles, rays and much more on impressive coral formations. There is lunch on the boat with sandwiches, salad and fruits, guacamole and nachos, ... At the end you will receive the PADI Open Water certification with which you can dive to a depth of 18m anywhere in the world. This course includes everything, diving equipment, tanks, transport to the beach / port, 2 boat dives and 3 beach dives + exercises in the water and on land, PADI certification, private instructor. Advanced Open Water Course The advanced course is a comprehensive and professional introduction to five different sub-disciplines of diving. Dives on navigation (natural navigation and with aids such as compass) and deep diving (up to 30m) are mandatory. Three more dives for other disciplines, such as drift diving, wreck diving, night diving, a buoyancy workshop or fish identification or diving with nitrox, are necessary to pass this course. The course includes a manageable chapter of theory per dive which must be prepared. The two to three day course includes 3 dives from the beach and two more from the boat, with food and drinks on board being completely included on the boat day. Furthermore, diving equipment, tanks and all other transport and entry costs for the course are covered. Rescue Diver Course The rescue course includes an extensive theory book and video, 3 dives from the beach and 2 more dives from the boat, during which various accident and rescue scenarios are simulated and played out. The diver should learn skills that, on the one hand, allow the diving team to act more safely and efficiently and, on the other hand, significantly improve help and rescue in an emergency situation. A first aid course is required to receive certification. This can be done in advance or here on Cozumel with our partners from the International Hospital.
