Please read carefully — by booking you agree to these terms. 1. Weather & Cancellations - The owner reserves the right to cancel or reschedule due to unsafe weather conditions (high winds, lightning, heavy waves) to protect safety. - If cancellation is made by the owner for weather, you may choose either a 90% refund or to reschedule the booking (subject to availability). - If the renter cancels in advance: • Cancellation ≥ 48 hours before start: 90% refund minus processing fee • Cancellation 12–48 hours before: 50% refund • Cancellation within 12 hours or no-show: no refund - Partial time lost (e.g. returned early due to sudden weather): rent will be prorated for the time used. 2. Late Arrival / No-Show - If the renter arrives late, the rental end time may not be extended (unless approved). - No-shows or cancellations less than 12 hours before departure will be charged the full booking price. 3. Safety / Operational Rules - Renter must be at least 21 years old and present a valid driver’s license or government ID. - Renter must show proof of boating competency (e.g. Washington boater education card) if required by law. - The renter agrees to follow all navigation, local regulations, no-wake zones, and speed limits. - All passengers must wear Coast Guard–approved PFDs (life jackets) while underway (or as required). - No overloading beyond stated capacity. - No smoking, drug use, or alcohol consumption violations onboard (unless otherwise agreed). - The renter is responsible for routine care (e.g. safe handling, minimizing stress on engine) and must report any damage or mechanical issues immediately. 4. Fuel / Cleaning / Return Condition - The boat will depart with a full tank (or agreed fuel level). The renter is responsible for refueling or to reimburse fuel used above that level. - The renter must return the boat clean, free of trash and in the same condition as at check-out. - Extra cleaning fee will apply if excessive dirt, debris, or stains require more effort. 5. Damage / Security Deposit / Claims - A security allowance (deposit) up to $350 will be held (on your card or preauthorization). - Renter is responsible for any damage (up to that allowance) plus repair/ replacement costs beyond, if documented. - Claims must be filed within 24 hours after return; damage must be documented (photos, inspection). - The owner will deduct repair costs (or charge additional) after final assessment; any unused portion of deposit will be released. 6. Substitution / Mechanical Failure - In case the boat becomes unavailable (due to mechanical breakdown or unforeseen issues), the owner may offer a substitute of equal or greater quality or reschedule. - If no acceptable alternative is available, a full refund will be issued. 7. Behavior & Termination Rights - The owner or captain has the right to terminate the rental if renter or passengers violate safety, rules, or behave in a manner that risks damage or danger. - In such case, no refund will be provided. Why include each part / examples - Weather & cancellation: Boats are weather-dependent. Many rental companies (e.g. Boat setter) include specific policies for cancellations due to storms, lightning, etc. Boatsetter+1 - Late / no-show: Protects your revenue in case someone cancels last minute. Many rentals require full charge if within certain “close” window. saltyboatrental.com+1 - Safety / operational rules: Ensures renters understand they must follow laws and safety protocols — helps reduce your liability. - Fuel / cleaning / return condition: It’s common that owners depart with full tank, and renters are responsible for return fuel or reimburse. Also helps avoid extra workload. - Damage / security deposit: Standard in all rentals — protects owner. Must include clear process for claims and timing. - Substitution / mechanical failure: A fair policy if your boat breaks down. - Behavior & termination: Gives you right to end rental if terms broken.
