The scenery on the drive was awesome and we snorkelled on the most beautiful coral reefs and wrecks from the second world war. The stop at a secret beach and the water palace were delightful and Subur, our guide made this day the highlight of our trip.” Arriving at our destination after an early start and a quick visit to the sacred Bat Temple we snorkel (dive) on the wreck of the US Liberty, a large vessel torpedoed by the Japanese during WW II. The wreck is in relatively good condition, is located some 40 metres from the shore and is one of the best and safest wreck dives to be found anywhere in the world. The marine life around the wreck is amazing and large schools of fish swarm in it’s vicinity. After lunch, we drive along this stunning coastline to Ahmed where we snorkel on a Japanese PT boat sunk after a being hit by a Dutch naval craft during the invasion of Bali during WW II. Sitting in shallow water, very close to the shore, on the edge of a colourful and healthy coral reef teeming with tropical fish, this wreck is accessible to those who have never snorkeled before or cannot swim, as we supply life jackets (flotation devices if needed).
