Great experience. Bring gas for the grill if you happen to be using the grill.
This one was tough. So a few things to start that rubbed me the wrong way. First off, you see this listing as a 2021 YAMAHA 242 Limited. Which are beautiful boats btw. So we were excited to get underway! I asked for photos of the actual vessel that we would be using and instead received multiple “stock” photos. Although a bit taken back, I didn’t allow that to be an issue. Upon seeing the boat being launched into the water, I noticed something was off….it wasn’t a 2021 Yamaha 242 Limited. Instead, it was a 2013 Yamaha 212…..If you know your boats, you know that is a SIGNIFICANT downgrade. So as I brought this to his attention he asks what do I want to do? I said, I want the boat I paid for. He then asks if I want to follow him to Lewisville to get the right boat. I said yes I would. On the way to Lewisville (about 25 mins away) the “dispatch” calls me and says “Sorry, but the 242 isn’t available today”. Naturally, this is upsetting. So I replied with, “what is available?” This is when she sends me pictures of a 2021 Yamaha 212X. I said, “that’s not a 242 but fine I guess, but I would like to be compensated for the inconvenience as its now almost an hour after our scheduled departure and we are still driving” She said she would talk to one of the people in charge. So we pull into a boat yard, and he drops the other boat and then proceeds to assume I would pull the new boat and drop it myself lol. Random assumption but ok. I told him I wasn’t comfortable and that it wasn’t reasonable to assume I would be. Then comes the question of gas….after ALL The inconvenience, he says that he wouldn’t allow me to have a full tank because “they don’t do that”. At this point I was so mad, I didn’t even care, I just wanted to get on the water. So, fast forward and recap. It’s now 2pm, we had a 1245 departure time and we are finally on the water in a pretty nice boat. I will give them a bit of credit as at the end of our trip they offered to refund us for 1 hour of our time= to $150, (although I spent over $200 on gas just so we could enjoy our time) and also offered a bottle of champagne for the trouble. At the end of the day, these guys are just trying to earn a living, I get it. Was it an honest mistake? Maybe. But it all felt very staged as if they hoped I wouldn’t notice the difference in vessels. I know they felt bad, they made a decent effort to make it up to us and I appreciate that. Hopefully, they learn from this experience so no one else has to experience this again! Cheers.
I am excited to be a part of the GetMyBoat movement in making boats more accessible and affordable to others. I hope to get out on the water more and help boating grow!
