For the curious, my husband and I physically built Schooner Heron over 3 Maine winters and launched her in 2003. Since then, we and our 2 daughters have sailed over 100,000 miles on Heron between Maine and the Grenadines. In 2009 Heron starred as Sanderson's Yacht in the Johnny Depp film "Rum Diary", based on the book by Hunter S. Thompson. Beautiful shots of the boat in that film. (Our loyal boating friends say it was the best part of the movie.) We would love to have you experience sailing Heron first hand with a charter in the Grenadines or in Maine. Nigel (Twig) and Bonnie are 100 ton USCG licensed captains, having sailed extensively in the Gulf of Maine, trans-Atlantic and the Caribbean, sailing skiffs, schooners and square riggers. They have been doing tours from Rockport Harbor for more than 24 years and doing charters in the Caribbean the last 13 years.
