A very complete route with many activities that we develop in an exceptional setting: the province of Huelva and the Portuguese Algarve. Great beaches, huge dunes and coastal pine forests, chestnut forests in the mountains and white villages with Arab heritage. Pure flavor of Andalusia with an active style and out of the crowds of classic tourism. Everything developed by us, with our own guides-naturalists, itineraries carefully designed and with great care. All the material we use is also ours: bicycles, kayaks, sailboats, vans, accommodation in front of a Natural Site on the coast line, with what we get a perfect balance between quality and price. We also have the continued support of our office in the same town. A very complete trip that does not need previous experience to be able to do it, simply an active spirit and a normal physical condition. • The kayak route through the marshes begins at the Isla Cristina Marina and the departure time will depend on the movement of the tides for that day. We start this journey up the Carreras river and sailing through the Fishing Port of Isla Cristina, the most important in Andalusia. The origins of this fishing village date back to the second half of the 18th century, when Catalan and Valencian fishermen settled in these lands to exploit the sardine and tuna fishing grounds, extract the salt, salt the fish and conserve it. We will see during these days how some artisan tasks linked to the sector are still practiced. From the port, to the bowels of the marshes, advancing through shallow waters and swampy estuaries formed under the protection of the incipient coastal cords. Almajos, saladillos, white blankets..., a mosaic of florafully adapted to the high salinity of the area. This is a transformed tidal marsh, mainly for salinas and aquaculture crops, although it is still possible to find extensive areas where natural vegetation remains and important concentrations of birds such as stilts, spoonbills, herons, avocets or the beautiful pink flamingo. Before the start, we will practice kayaking on the shore and we will give you some basic safety rules. No previous experience is required to perform this activity, yes to know how to swim. Duration 4 hours approx. With time to rest and bathe. • For all of us, the Doñana Natural Area means wild nature in its purest state and one of the most important nature reserves in the world. We find different ecosystems such as the preserves, the marsh or the dune beaches that make it possible to live in a small space such diverse species as anatidae, herons, deer or lynx. We will dedicate part of the day to travel this space with our guides, great connoisseurs of this natural space and the wonderful fauna that inhabits it. We start with observations in the well-known Aldea del Rocío, here the marsh is flooded with the first rains of autumn and covers the clay soils creating a privileged place for the sighting of waders, flamingos and other animal species such as wild horses and ecological livestock. You can also observe a great variety of birds of prey crossing the skies like the kites, the marsh harrier or the spectacular imperial eagle. Doñana is an important area of passage, breeding and wintering for many species of birds, in different seasons can be seen more than 300 different. But the most impressive of Doñana is its diversity in time, each season of the year offers you something different. At the beginning of autumn and during the winter the marshes are full of rainwater turning the landscape into a great lake and thousands of waterfowl, such as geese and ducks, coming from the north of Europe visit us. Mammals are made diurnal by the fact that they can eat and warm up in the warm winter sun, so it will be easier for us to observe them. In spring and, especially summer, the landscape becomes drier and other species of birds such as storks, herons or swallows arrive in Africa in search of food and a milder climate. The beaches, another of the ecosystems that make up Doñana, present an intense dynamism, constantly changing their profile due to progressions and marine regressions over time. Peek into the Atlantic Ocean and see a sea of fossil dunes: thousands of years ago the dynamic between the ocean and the coast leads to an erosion that makes the dunes of the highest area are isolated, not receiving the contribution of sand and thus reducing your mobility to a minimum. Observe one of the most extensive and important forest areas of low Andalusia, with pine forests and scrub patches related to the coastal lagoon system. • The Algarve Route by bicycle. We are all in the agency where the guide is waiting with the bicycles already prepared. We start this activity crossing the historic center of Isla Cristina to pass, later, in front of one of the last artisan salinas that exist in Spain. From this point we will continue the route along the Litoral Greenway, between fertile lands that host orange trees to an old Tidal Mill of the eighteenth century located on a stream and used to grind wheat taking advantage of the movement of the tides. And from here, to the lively town of Ayamonte, on the dock awaits the boat that will cross us to Portugal navigating the river to reach one of the liveliest towns in the Portuguese Algarve: Villa Real de Santo Antonio, located at the mouth of the Guadiana River in the Atlantic Ocean. A bath and those who want to can eat an exquisite rice with seafood on the fluvial beach. To do this activity, you do not have to be a great cyclist, just know how to ride a bike and want to have fun. And if you do not cheer up do not worry, you can make an alternative plan. • Route of the Castles. Hiking in areas away from mass tourism, nature and forests where you feel free and relaxed. During the tour we will cross very different ecosystems: dehesas of oaks, gall oaks and cork oaks, fields of cultivation with fertile orchards and ordered olive trees. We walk this journey about 3 hours with a maximum height of 200m that makes our pace is calm and the walk suitable for anyone who likes soft sports and nature. This route is designed to go slowly, enjoying, with its paraditas in the shade of the road. In the pretty village of Alcoutim, a fluvial beach awaits us to take a dip before eating. The zip line is for people over 12 years old and optional (not included). • As parting we will sail in our sailboat by the Atlantic Ocean. If there is something that really changes life, it is to sail the seas and the winds. Since time immemorial men have had that feeling of discovery and adventure, communion with nature and wild freedom that causes the wind in the candles. We want to get closer to that feeling to enjoy, at least for a few hours, the magic of the ocean. We will go to the open sea and sail until the wind allows it. It will depend on the weather conditions that we make our crossing in the morning or in the afternoon. In any case, a few hours to feel like real pirates! All the activities and itineraries of this program may be altered in their execution or, in extreme cases, the suspension thereof, when the weather conditions or other causes of force majeure so require. Accommodation We have 4 Tourist Apartments integrated into small houses with two floors. They are cozy, new, large and very comfortable, both for their location, 10 minutes from the town center, and for their interior fittings. Each of them has 3 double rooms (optional individual or share) with bedding, mosquito nets and towels, 2 full bathrooms, hairdryer and iron, fully equipped kitchen with washing machine, living room with wifi, parking space garage, terrace and large private roof terrace with spectacular views of the Ría Carreras and its mouth in the Atlantic Ocean (Natural Area Marismas Isla Cristina) from where you can enjoy an amazing sunset while the fishing boats arrive at the Lonja del Puerto. Under the houses there is an indoor beach suitable for swimming and 10 minutes walking the beaches that overlook the open sea. Our agency is located within the facilities of the Marina 100 meters from the accommodation. Transport We have three vans with air conditioning and a minibus to carry up to 20 passengers plus the driver-guide and luggage. They will always be available to our team for any unforeseen event that may arise. Human Team With all the groups there is a naturalist guide from our office. Their job is to take care that everything develops as planned and coordinate the group during the tour, therefore, knows perfectly the areas through which the routes take place. Our guides are also people with great experience in handling groups and proven ability to react in these types of trips. Participation The group will be composed of a maximum of 20 travelers (to realize some routes it is divided). Although the guide coordinates and carries out the work of logistics and support, the participation of the group is important, so it is positive that the members collaborate in the small details necessary for the proper development of the trip. Foods The first day we will have a welcome dinner (optional) for all families to get to know each other. In Isla Cristina there are many inexpensive and high quality local restaurants that facilitate contact with the place and its people, calculated around € 10-€ 15 per person. If you feel like it, you can also eat or dine in the apartments (fully equipped kitchen). You can buy the products fresh in the central market. Two authentic luxuries have Huelva: the Iberian ham of acorn, the meats and sausages of the Sierra de Aracena and the fish and seafood that arrive daily at the Port of Isla Cristina. The prawns collected at the foot of the mouths of the rivers, the famous white shrimp, the coquinas, the clams, the choco, the red tuna of Almadraba, the stews and rice dishes, the white wine of the county ... Everything delicious and cheap!!! Regarding meals on the road, there is always the option to bring a sandwich or look for a place to eat on your own, but we advise you to take our recommendations and join the tasting of typical dishes of the area at a price more than reasonable, generally without exceeding €15 per person. All these suggestions are totally optional, the meals management is done to help the good development of the routes and so that you can enjoy the wide gastronomic variety that the province of Huelva offers us. With the recommendation of these small restaurants we also help the small artisan businesses present in each of our routes, thus encouraging the local economy. Weather We are in an area of Atlantic climate with much influence of the winds and humidity of the ocean. The winters are mild and short and the springs and autumns extend many months with really nice temperatures and many hours of sun. The summer is not as hot as in other parts of the south since the Atlantic sea breeze greatly moderates the temperature rises. At night, in summer, it is even advisable to wear a thin sweater. General Personal Team Comfortable and light clothing in summer (shorts and long, light-colored shirts, jersey, recommendable coulotte for bike, swimsuit, light beach towel, etc.). Comfortable walking shoes, flip flops and booties for the kayak route. Small backpack for routes, canteen, hat, sunglasses, mobile phone case, high sunscreen, mosquito repellent, personal kit, European Health Card, etc. What to Expect Onboard: The Alcyón is a sailboat of 9,20 meters of length, of classic design and with capacity for 7 passengers and the Skipper. Its robust and marine line makes this sailboat an ideal boat for a safe and smooth sailing trip. In addition, it has all the necessary security equipment: radio, depth sounder, life jackets, etc. The interior, with a cozy wooden lounge, kitchen, service and fresh water shower provides us with all the comforts we need. To put yourself at the helm of this ship of noble and seaworthy behavior is simple with the help of our skipper, who will instruct you in the ancient art of sailing. Our Kayaks Our kayaks are perfect to go out and explore the marshes calmly and safely. They are stable, self-emptying, unsinkable and easy to handle. In each kayak will sail 2 people and we will wear the life jacket throughout the tour. We will also take a tight canister aft to carry our things. It is the perfect boat to get close to the birds and plants that inhabit the marshes and feel integrated into nature. Before departure we will also give you a basic course to be able to handle the kayak correctly. To carry out this route you do not need experience, it is advisable to know how to swim. A Classic Day on a Route This is a trip that has two journeys by road but no more than an hour's journey and a lot of activity at the points we approach. The departure time for kayak and sailing activities will depend on the movement of the tides and the weather and sea conditions, so the order of carrying out the activities can be altered. We wanted to bring our travelers another way of traveling through Spain, away from mass tourism, with small groups and expert guides. We are a team of biologists, historians and nature technicians based on the reliability of the project. The infrastructure would also have to be ours so that the quality depended exclusively on us. We prepare carefully designed itineraries with great care and consider the essential accommodation. That's why we chose it in Faro del Sur on the front line of the coast and in front of a beautiful natural landscape. In the north we opted for a manor house of Indianos reformed to give maximum comfort and warmth in an incomparable environment. We achieve a perfect balance between quality and price.
