Flevostrand - Departure: Friday from 16:00 PM - Arrival: Friday until 10:00 PM The most important sailing rules Different priority rules apply on the water than on the road. • If you sail starboard (on the right), you have priority over ships that do not. • Small ships (up to 20 meters in length) must give priority to large ships (longer than 20 meters). However, tugs and pushers, ferries, passenger ships and fishing vessels always have the rights of 'large', even if they are shorter than 20 meters. • A small motor boat (up to 20 meters) must give priority to a small sailing ship (up to 20 meters) or a rowing boat, if their courses cross each other and none of the ships sail starboard. In this situation, a large motor boat must give priority to a large sailing ship. In this situation, a rowing boat must give priority to a small sailing ship. • The following applies to small motor vessels: the ship approaching from starboard takes precedence. • A small sailing ship with the sail over port has priority over a small sailing ship with the sail over starboard. If they sail with the sail across the same side, then windwardly makes way for lee, or: the ship that sails the highest wind has priority. • Anyone who enters a main waterway from a secondary waterway may not hinder other waterway users. You must then give priority to all ships on the main waterway. And a number of rules that have a lot to do with common sense: • Do not suddenly change course. • Do not anchor at bridges and locks. • Keep the center of the water free. • Practice starting your engine quickly. • Always consider the blind spot on professional ships. • Check your fuel level daily. • Being a helmsman and drinking alcohol do not go together!
