Things to consider for your fishing charter.
- Check with the captain if your charter is private or if others will be joining you and if you need any special licenses.
- The captain will also know what species of fish are biting, make sure that matches what you want to catch.
- If you are going to bring children with you, be sure to ask the captain about water conditions. The last thing anyone wants is kids having a bad time out at sea.
- Double check the equipment on board and if it is fitted with the latest fishing tech.
Fishing Charters FAQs
What should I bring on a fishing charter boat?
Usually, bait, tackle, and equipment are included on a fishing charter. You should bring a cooler of drinks, sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, and comfortable clothing that can get wet. Ask your captain or the owner when booking the charter what they recommend you bring for the excursion.
How far out is deep sea fishing?
Deep sea fishing distance from shore depends on the location. The water off the coast of some islands gets very deep very fast, so you won’t have to go far out to be deep sea fishing. On average, deep sea fishing trips will take you 20-30 miles off shore.

Extremely nice crew. Can’t fault them for not catching fish, but the boat wasn’t as modern as the listing mentioned and wasn’t a very pleasant place to be in the moderate conditions we had. Raul really cares and wanted to show us a great time
A great time was had by all. We were taken to superb snorkel spots, provided with a delightful arrangement of refreshments and snacks and all in all pampered like royalty!
Amazing trip! First of all - thanks to Jorge, who advised to change date of trip because of wind and risky weather. Next day he picked us up at the hotel and we had an amazing fishing experience. He and his partner Pedro took care of everything - fishing licenses, equipment, food, beer and wine, explanation, nice talks and perfect music! We are looking forward to come back to Porto and have another one try with Jorge.
If You are looking for a nice boat trip, with great snacks like portuguese chees, ham and beer, than go with Jorge. He is really friendly and comunicative, his boat is classic and comfortable with a lot of space. You will catch mostly seabass by sailing along beautifull coast. Although if You want to catch something biger, thanYou propably need to go to south portugal for some deep ocean fishing. In general: 5/5 points:)
Jorge is great! He picked us up at the hotel, drove us to the marina pointing out restaurants and sites along the way. The fishing tour was great!! Comfortable boat, delicious food and drinks were served, and Jorge was super friendly and helpful. We had a great time!
Absolutely amazing. The crew was so nice! We didn’t feel rushed and they knew what they were doing. They made sure we caught some small fish before trying for bigger one and we did catch a fairly good sized snapper. They cleaned it for us too. I was there with my 68 year old mom and she had a blast also. Thank you so much!
