About Provence

Provence is a gorgeous region in the south of France. It’s known for beautiful beaches, lavender fields, and unbelievable restaurants. There are many charming cities throughout Provence to visit, all about ten minutes apart by car. The most popular towns are on the coast, also known as the French Riviera.

The best time of year to visit Provence is early to mid-fall when the temperatures are still warm but the summer holiday crowds have dispersed. The temperature during this time is in the mid-70s. The prices will be much more reasonable in September & October than during the summer months of June through August. Bonus - you won’t have to fight for a spot to lay out your beach towel.

Spring is also a good time to visit, as flowers are in full bloom, making the city appear very lush. Winter is a cold season and sees less desirable weather, but it has the most inexpensive hotel rates.

There are different major cities to visit when going to Provence. You can take a flight to Marseille or Nice, or take a train to one of the smaller cities in Provence. If you plan on visiting during the peak summer seasons, booking a hotel reservation far in advance is crucial. Prices will spike during this time and many accommodation options get completely booked up.
