The carp is native to Eastern Europe and Western Asia and was introduced in Western Europe in the XII century and the United States around 1870. During the Middle Ages experienced a big expansion in the Iberian Peninsula . Originating in the United States, the bass have been introduced in Europe in the nineteenth century. In addition to Portugal , the bass is in countries like France, Italy, Germany , Spain and Russia. The largemouth bass can be caught in the dam of Santa Clara.
