Thinking about buying a boat or want to build confidence behind the wheel? This private 2-hour charter is designed for hands-on boating instruction, not sightseeing. Captain Chris, a USCG Licensed Master Captain, will guide you through real-world boat handling skills on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. What you’ll learn includes: - Safe startup and systems checks - Docking and line handling - Throttle control, trim, and turning radius - Navigating markers and understanding ICW rules - Anchoring, tides, and basic safety - Boating etiquette and emergency procedures - Trailer backing with boat launching and recovery if requested Available Monday through Thursday at 8:00 AM only. Essential Boating Knowledge As part of your hands-on instruction, we’ll also cover the fundamental safety equipment and practices that every responsible boater should know — many of which are legally required. Topics include: - Proper use and inspection of life jackets for all passengers - Operating a fire extinguisher and sound signaling device - Using a bailer or bilge pump - Understanding navigation lights and anchor requirements - Reading navigation charts and recognizing marker systems - Basic first aid readiness, fueling procedures, and weather planning Whether you’re getting ready to buy your first boat or want to feel more confident behind the wheel, you’ll get practical exposure to real-world gear, techniques, and responsibilities—not just theory. Important: This is an instructional charter only. I do not issue safe boater cards or official endorsements. Ages 18+ recommended. Ages 16–17 may participate with a parent or guardian onboard.
