Mākālei is an Everglades 290 CC (~30 ft. LOA) built with the patented RAMCAP process. This translates to extreme hull rigidity, a high-strength composite material hull, an unsinkable rigid foam core that makes Mākālei an “unsinkable” vessel with the best ride comfort and quality in the industry. Mākālei is equipped with reliable twin 250hp Yamaha outboards to get you to your destination faster. A 200 gallon fuel tank gives Mākālei an impressive 400 mile range. For comfort and convenience, Mākālei is equipped with a full restroom, freshwater wash, and raw water wash. Forward she has a large padded seating area. To the aft she has a bait and prep area with a freshwater sink and a 35 gallon live well. Mākālei also has two massive built-in ice boxes forward and aft and a rear exit swim platform with ladder for easy water access. Where safety is concerned, Mākālei is equipped with two mounted fire extinguishers, a USCG approved first aid kit, 24″ throwable life ring, a SOLAS emergency signaling kit, and type I PFDs for all passengers equipped with water activated lights, whistles and reflective material. In addition to this, Mākālei is equipped with a DSC VHF radio with emergency distress capability and AIS equipped. Mākālei also has a powerful 24″ Garmin UHD radar for low visibility situations making her capable in almost any visibility.
CPT Dan Wright is a licensed USCG Master Captain, descended from generational fishermen from the coast of downeast Maine. His love for water extends both above and below the surface of the water. CPT Dan holds professional SCUBA certifications as a PADI Divemaster, Technical Dive Institute (TDI) Nitrox Diver, Deep Dive Specialty, Diver’s Alert Network (DAN) Emergency Oxygen certification and as a certified Freediving Instructors International (FII) freediver. In addition to these CPT Dan also holds a Sea Tow endorsement from the USCG and an FCC Marine Radio Operator’s permit. Professionally, CPT Dan graduated from the University of Vermont with dual degrees in Archaeology and History before commissioning the US Army as an Officer. CPT Dan achieved the rank of Captain (making him a Captain twice over) before leaving the Army, as well as being awarded a Bronze Star for his actions in combat in Afghanistan, among numerous other medals and citations as US Army Reconnaissance Officer. CPT Dan is highly trained as a combat arms professional and has extensive schooling and experience in trauma first aid and risk mitigation. Upon leaving the Army CPT Dan worked as a Corporate Executive for Amazon.com and Target Corporation. CPT Dan is married to Tatiana Ku’ulei. They have three children, one of which is a US Navy Sailor in nuclear propulsion school, and the other two are currently homeschooled. When CPT Dan is not sharing his love for these waters with friends, neighbors, and clients, he enjoys fishing, lobstering, spearfishing and doing anything outdoor with his family.

PAU HANA MARINE, LLC operate under our complete Terms and Conditions listed below. Scheduling a charter with us is your agreement to these terms and conditions. Please read carefully. (This is not the Waiver of Liability and Hold Harmless Agreement, for which every member of the party will need to provide a signed one prior to leaving the marina.) The “Vessel” shall be defined as any motor yacht or vessel chartered from Pau Hana Marine, LLC. The “Owner” shall be defined as the legally registered owner of the vessel. The “Charter Guest”, including any guests or party members thereof, shall be defined as person(s) booking and/or paying for the charter. Booking, Cancellations and Refunds: A minimum deposit of 50% of the cost of the charter is required to book and must be received at the time of booking. If the deposit is not received at the time of booking, the charter will not be scheduled. If the party does not appear on the scheduled date and time and does not cancel prior to the scheduled date and time by email or by phone at least 3 days/72 hours prior to the scheduled date, then your deposit will be forfeited. The balance of the charter price over and above your deposit is due prior to departure from the marina. The party is limited to 6 persons, including children. Due to safety concerns, children under 12 are not permitted to be left alone on the boat without an adult member of the party present. When you receive a booking confirmation, it is your reservation date/time as long as the Captain determines that the weather is appropriate. Lightening, hail, high winds and torrential rain are a few examples of severe weather that may result in the Captain terminating or altering the trip. If the charter is cancelled due to inclement weather, the charter may be rescheduled for the first available date acceptable to both the party and Pau Hana Marine, LLC, provided a reasonable amount of time has not been completed. A trip terminated by the Captain due to the bad weather once the charter has commenced will not be entitled to a refund if the party agreed to begin the charter knowing of the impending weather. A trip terminated due to member(s) of the party getting sick will not be entitled to a refund or credit. Pau Hana Marine, LLC reserves the right to make whatever changes to the trip that circumstances dictate, including substitutions of Captain, cancellations due to weather, mechanical failure, etc. It is the responsibility of the Charter Guest to notify all members of the party and arrange for the party to be present on the date, time and location of the charter. You are expected to be on time for your charter. Charter time begins at the specified time, not when the party arrives. Charter time ends promptly at the specified time, regardless of the party’s arrival time. Plan accordingly. If you do not show up at the place designated on the day of your reservation, you will forfeit your deposit. Misuse of the boat or equipment is prohibited and is grounds for canceling the charter without refund. Captain’s Authority: The charter operates under the authority of the boat Captain. The Charter Guest explicitly agrees that they and their guests shall obey the Captain at all times. Further, if in the reasonable opinion of the Captain, the Charter Guest or any of their guests fail to observe all or any part of the provisions in this agreement, the Captain shall be entitled to end the Charter Period immediately. Upon such event the Charter Guest shall not be entitled to any refunds of the Charter Fee or Security Deposit. Charter Guest’s Liability: The Charter Guest shall be liable for costs or losses as incurred (or likely to be incurred) from damage caused by the Charter Guest or their guests (intentionally or otherwise) to the Vessel or any third party. The Charter Guest shall be responsible to the Owner of any loss, damage or injury caused by the willful or negligent acts of themself or their guests. Charter Guest’s Obligations: The Charter Guest shall ensure that: No drugs, narcotics or weapons shall be used or brought on board the VesselThe Charter Guest undertakes to comply with all seagoing rules and regulations currently in force and to obey the reasonable requests of the CaptainThe Charter Guest and all members of his party shall take all reasonable care of the Vessel and it’s equipmentUsage of any illegal substances of any nature will result in the termination of the trip and forfeiture of all money paid; andIf the Charter Guest or any of their Guests shall commit any offense contrary to the laws and regulations of any jurisdictions which results in the Vessel being detained, arrested, seized or fines the Charter Guest shall indemnify the Owner against all loss, damage and expense incurred by the Owner as a result.Children age 6 and under must wear a personal flotation device at all times on the boat. Please assist in making sure that children comply. Removing the personal flotation device at any time while on the boat or in the water will constitute a violation of the safety rules and procedures for which the Charter Guest expressly assumes the risks. We provide USCG approved life jackets.The Charter Guest and all members of their party possess the physical condition, the degree of skill, and the knowledge necessary to ride on a boat, fish, and/or swim and snorkel safely. Participation in these activities is purely voluntary. No guide is provided for swimming activities. The Charter Guest will assume and accept all risks.For snorkel and sandbar charters only: the Charter Guest and all members of their party must know how to swim and can swim safely. THERE IS NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY. By signing the Waiver of Liability and Hold Harmless Agreement, the Charter Guest understands and/or acknowledges that they WILL NOT hold Pau Hana Marine, LLC responsible for accidents, injury or death sustained during swimming activities on the charter. The charter agreement includes a USCG registered and insured, fully-outfitted vessel, a licensed and insured boat Captain, all required safety equipment, all tackle and bait (if applicable), all snorkel equipment (if applicable), and drinking water. Disposable plastic water bottles, aerosol sunscreen, sunscreen containing oxybenzone or octinoxate, glass bottles or other glass items are not allowed on board the boat without prior approval by the Captain. It is our desire to provide a pleasant charter experience. PAU HANA MARINE, LLC, will do anything within reason to make sure your party has fun on your charter.
