Rental Times Rentals for 3 or 4 hours will stay along the Chicago River and will not go onto Lake Michigan. Rentals for 5 or 6 hours will take the Chicago River to Lake Michigan and will anchor at the playpen. Captain We will provide you with a list of certified captains for your rental, whom you will pay from your rental. Captains are an extra $100 per hour. You may not hire your own captain who is not on our list. Capacity The yacht can have 12 or fewer passengers, not including the captain and crew. All ages count toward this capacity, including young children or infants. Pets Pets are not allowed on the boat, unless it is a certified service animal. Refunds/Cancellations All reservations are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend your scheduled reservation, refunds cannot be issued. However, if you notify Chicago Boat Rentals before your scheduled rental time, you may reschedule your reservation, subject to availability and the following rescheduling fees: VIP Members do not incur reschedule fees - More than 24 hours before your scheduled reservation: $20 rescheduling fee. - Within 24 hours of your scheduled reservation: $50 rescheduling fee. - On the day of your reservation (before your scheduled rental time): $100 rescheduling fee. Rescheduling requests must be made before your scheduled rental time and are subject to boat availability. No-shows are not eligible for refunds, rescheduling, or gift cards. A reservation is considered a no-show if the reservation holder fails to arrive for the scheduled rental and does not notify Chicago Boat Rentals before the reservation begins. To ensure fairness and availability for all guests, each reservation may be rescheduled one time only. Any additional changes are at the sole discretion of Chicago Boat Rentals and may not be available. Because each reservation requires us to reserve a boat, dock space, staffing, and operating resources exclusively for your party, we are unable to offer refunds for canceled or missed reservations. If Chicago Boat Rentals cancels your rental due to weather, you will be able to reschedule at no additional charge. If you are unable to reschedule, a Chicago Boat Rentals gift card will be issued. The gift card can be used anytime or may be gifted to another person. Boats will usually go out rain or shine. Only a manager of Chicago Boat Rentals can cancel boat rentals. Oftentimes, weather will pass, and it may only be a slight drizzle. No shows or canceling the day of a rental without a manager’s approval forfeits any money paid and forfeits any rescheduling options. In addition, no refunds, credits, or rain checks will be issued. Weather The safety of our guests and crew is our highest priority. Weather conditions on the water can change quickly and may differ from published forecasts. Chicago Boat Rentals reserves the sole right to determine whether weather conditions are safe for boating and whether a reservation must be delayed, rescheduled, or canceled due to weather. Customers may not cancel based solely on a weather forecast or predicted conditions. If Chicago Boat Rentals cancels a reservation due to unsafe weather or water conditions, guests will be offered one of the following: - A rescheduled reservation, subject to availability, or - A Chicago Boat Rentals gift card for the full value of the reservation. Refunds will not be issued for weather-related cancellations. Light rain, cloudy conditions, cooler temperatures, or forecasted weather alone do not automatically constitute unsafe boating conditions. Chicago Boat Rentals will make all weather-related decisions based on actual conditions and safety considerations at the time of the reservation. Bareboat Charter Rules and Regulations According to State and Federal Laws, yacht charters are regulated and heavily enforced by the United States Coast Guard. The different classes vary by the type of boat and take into consideration the way it is designed, the boat’s systems, and safety equipment. CBR offers the following: •1 to 12 guests: Demise Charter – also known as Bareboat Charter and Recreational Charter  The United States Coast Guard regulates this bareboat charter and it allows you to bring up to twelve guests plus your captain and crew. By law, the captain and crew must be independently hired by the charterer. CBR will provide you with a list of competent and properly trained captain and crew members.  The cost of the captain and crew is $100 per hour and is paid to the crew.   Below are the conditions required for a legal bareboat charter: • Charterer is to survey the vessel upon its delivery and return • Charterer is given possession of the vessel and acts as vessel owner during the charter term. • Charterer has complete command over the vessel and its navigation. • Charterer selects and separately hires, at charterer’s expense, a qualified mariner to operate the vessel. • Charterer may discharge the crew, for cause, without the permission of the charter company and/or yacht owner. • Charterer is responsible for insurance, fuel, port fees, food and beverage – by law these items can’t be included in the charter. • Charterer may not have more than 12 guests onboard at any time. Hired crew and charterer are not considered guests.
