It is a pre-requisite for your UKCC Level 1 paddle sport qualification. Our training is focused on building on the fundamental strokes to manoeuvre the crafts and build a broader understanding of the crafts. We usually head to one of the local lochs to maximise the time on the water, usually Loch Insh. Here we will run through the basics of the craft and get used to being in the water. We will cover various strokes that will enable us to feel like we can control the craft moving forward, backwards and sideways, we will also look at roles within the boat if paddling tandem and then go for a little journey to consolidate our skills. • Location: East Highlands • Min: 2 people • Max: 6 people • Grading: 3 BCU Qualification Courses (2 Star Assessment) The 2-star award is a multi-discipline award with single-blade and double-blade craft being used to train and assess the award. It is a step up from 2star and we focus on refining your technique to cope better in varying conditions, we also take a look at some traditional skills inc poling and the use of some ropes to travel upstream. We usually head to one of the local lochs to maximize the time on the water. Here we will look at the relationship between ourselves the paddle and the boat and how we can make adjustments to be more efficient with our paddling and different ways to achieve the same outcome, this builds a broader experience and we have more 'tools in the box.
