Ecotour Charleston sits along the scenic coastline of the Southeastern United States in a region known as the Lowcountry, an area celebrated for its remarkable biodiversity and abundant wildlife. The Lowcountry's ecosystem is a dynamic blend of saltwater and freshwater habitats that merge and shift with the tides. This ever-changing environment creates unique interactions between inshore and offshore species as they share and compete for food, shelter, and space. Your experienced captain will guide you through Charleston's coastal wetlands and out toward the barrier islands that protect the harbor and mainland from the winds and tides of the Atlantic Ocean. Along the way, you'll enjoy an up-close, firsthand look at one of the Southeast's most spectacular natural environments. Harbor Tour Charleston Harbor is the heart of the Lowcountry—a vibrant waterway where history, commerce, and natural beauty come together. Home to one of the busiest ports on the East Coast, the harbor is constantly alive with ships, working vessels, and waterfront activity. While much of the shoreline has evolved through centuries of development, the best way to truly appreciate Charleston's historic waterfront is from the water itself. As you cruise the harbor, you'll pass iconic landmarks including historic forts, colonial-era homes and buildings, and the USS Yorktown. Along the way, your experienced captain will share fascinating stories and local history while providing a unique perspective on how Charleston's historic waterfront exists alongside one of the nation's most active working ports. For centuries, Charleston Harbor has served as a vital hub for maritime commerce, naval operations, and merchant shipping. Today, you'll see firsthand how these industries continue to shape the city, helping make Charleston the thriving, culturally rich port city it is today.
