Skadar lake is the largest lake in Montenegro and on the Balkan Peninsula, with an area of 369.7 km (of which 221.8 km⊃2; belongs to Montenegro and 147.9 km⊃2; to Albania). It is 40 km long from Vranjna to Shkodra, and 14 km wide in some places. Depth of 4 to 6 meters, and the further you go towards the west hill is even greater. It changes size according to the seasons, and receives water from many rivers. It flows along the river Bojana in the Adriatic Sea. The lake is full of islands and peninsulas with traces of history and valuable cultural heritage.
