An introduction to whitewater! &lsquo;Kayak the Mighty Clutha&rsquo; &ndash; (half day)&nbsp;&bull; Adult: $189 per person
(The Clutha river flows out of Lake Wanaka, not far away at all!)
This is our half day river activity for those with an appetite for getting up close and personal with the famous Clutha river. The fun unfolds as the river twists and turns, through playful rapids of the Upper Clutha set amongst the stunning Wanaka scenery.
Your guide will give you instructions on river safety and technique, as well as tips on river reading and directions on where to find the action and best play spots.
With a bit of practice you&rsquo;ll soon be cruising down the river in style. Be prepared to get a little wet and have a giggle.

During this epic Queenstown water activity experience the rush of swimming through raging rapids, surfing standing waves, riding whirlpools, squirting, playing on eddy lines and trying some wicked rock jumps.

We provide all equipment: 5mm full steam wetsuit, booties, helmet, life jacket and fins. Photos and Video available for purchase after the trip.
What you need to bring: Bring your swimmers, a towel and a sense of adventure!
Duration: 4.5 hours return, with 1.5 – 2.5 hours on the river.
Departures: Riversurfing twice daily November to March at 8:30am & 2:00pm
Sledging daily November to March at 11.00am
Once a day in dhoulderseason September, October April and May at 1.00pm

With all of our freedom kayaks and beach rentals you must bring a buddy if your intention is to paddle for more than 1 hour.

To navigate your way around Lake Wanaka’s coastline returning to Roys Bay. You have a minimum two person team and a time limit of 3-4 hours. You will receive transport from Paddle Wanaka’s headquarters to your start point. You will be given all the necessary equipment and safety briefings to complete your journey. Good luck!
“The Mission” operates from October 1 – April 30. All trips are weather dependent. Assignment routes may vary depending on weather.

Look for the van with the trailer parked on the beach in front of the Lake Bar.

Our unique trip takes around about 5.5hrs and is a combination of a sightseeing trip by bus or van (a 45 min drive into Skippers Canyon, one of the most scenic roads in NZ), and raft on the upper Shotover River.  The on-river trip is pretty gentle, we are only rafting on grade 1 & 2 rapids.  This means that any water that sloshes into the raft, does so without violence or force.  In fact, water confidence is not necessary.   We do stop along the way on the river and adults and kids who want to, can try the various rock jumps into the river, and swim in the river. 
The trip definitely falls into the “soft adventure” category, it is NOT your average SCARY raft trip that you would experience on higher graded sections of the river.  We are however the only rafting operator in Queenstown who takes children under 13 years on the Shotover.
Our trip takes 4.5 hours.

This covers all of the basics you need to know to be proficient on the SUP. • This is then followed by more SUP skills and techniques training as you spend another hour with your guide exploring either our favourite parts of Lake Wanaka! • The Lake Escape runs daily  at 10am (1pm July-Sept) • All transport to location provided • 2 hours total paddling (allow 3 hours total time)
