Kayaking course. The thrill of whitewater kayaking is what drives most people to do it. Our kayak instructors will teach you the foundation skills you need to control your kayak on moving water with confidence. Run over a weekend, the course starts in a heated pool where we develop your confidence in capsizing a kayak and exiting your kayak. We also teach you how to stay in your kayak to be rescued. You'll learn what to do if you swim in moving water and how you can rescue yourself if necessary. Tuition also covers paddle strokes, support strokes, ferry gliding, edging and reading the river. The course is always at a pace you are comfortable with and aims to get you tackling moving water/Grade 2 rapids by the end of the weekend. You also have the option of developing your kayak skills further through our Yakity Yak Kayak club where various regions run whitewater club trips.
