What You Can Expect:

Wildlife & Bird Watching Cruises

And if you’re more interested in seeing birds or wildlife than catching fish, we’ve got you covered. We’ll show you the unique animals, fish and birds that live along the South Carolina coast. We’ll provide you with views of loggerhead turtles, great egrets, pelicans, ospreys or great blue herons – and even sharks such as great whites, black noses and hammerheads – that you’d never get on land.

Sightseeing Cruises

You can also choose to take in the rich history of Hilton Head, including stops at the famous Harbor Town Marina, quaint shops, great restaurants and the infamous Harbor Town Lighthouse. Whatever your interest, we can create a tailored charter experience that you’ll remember for years to come.

Inshore Fishing

At TailHunter, our inshore fishing trips focus on bays, estuaries and inlets along the Hilton Head coast, whereas our nearshore trips take place further from shore.

With inshore trips:

• We use lighter tackle and both live and dead bait
• We use a Garmin 7612 GPS, radar, sonar and fishfinder, if needed
• We stay closer to shore
• Fish sizes are generally smaller
• The fish species caught are less affected by season and weather

Nearshore Fishing

At TailHunter, our nearshore trips feature fishing in areas about 3-10 miles away from the coast. Therefore, the fish species we catch in these areas tend to be larger. Our nearshore charters are true “deep sea” fishing trips.

For our nearshore trips:

• We use heavier gear, bait and tackle
• We go further from shore
• Fish species are generally larger
• The weather and season have more of an effect on fish species caught than our inshore trips

What To Expect Onboard:

Our boat, the TailHunter, is a 27′ Boston Whaler (famously known as “unsinkable” hulls) Dauntless center console, powered by twin 200 Mercury Verados. This boat has the necessary speed and power to get you to the fish and back without wasting valuable time. It’s an all-around good fishing boat with plenty of room for passengers – one of the most comfortable, yet battle-tested, center consoles we’ve ever experienced.

The TailHunter is also equipped with an up-to-date electronics package and world-famous Penn fishing tackle.

What To Bring:

• Sun protection: Sunscreen, hats, polarized sunglasses, long-sleeved shirts
• Rain protection: Rain jackets and foul weather gear (just in case)
