I’m a licensed 100-ton Master Merchant Marine with over 20 years of experience as a captain. Since 1975, I’ve been piloting boats and have had the privilege of cruising and delivering vessels around the globe. As a charter captain and owner of Paradiso Yacht Charters, I operate a diverse fleet of vessels in Newport Beach, California, ranging from a sailboats to a luxurious yachts. I’m also passionate about teaching sailing and vessel handling, certified by insurance companies to train and test new boat owners for insurance qualifications. I love sharing our ocean with others, especially when they get to witness the awe-inspiring sights of dolphins, sea lions, and majestic whales along our beautiful California coastline.

Thank you for considering a charter aboard our unique 30-foot floating palapa bar. This is a captained charter vessel. Charter Requirements & Operating Hours - Captain Required: A USCG-licensed captain is required on all charters. There are no daylight-only restrictions, as the vessel always operates under a licensed captain’s supervision. - Captain Booking: We provide a list of certified captains for your selection or are happy to assign one on your behalf. Captain fees are $50 per hour. - Optional Crew: Your captain will reach out in advance to confirm if you’d like to add additional crew members to assist during your trip. Beverage & Service Options - Bring Your Own: You're welcome to bring your own food and beverages aboard. - Cooler & Ice: A complimentary cooler of ice is available upon request. - Drink Packages: If you select a pre-stocked drink package, it will include a dedicated host to assist with setup and service throughout the cruise. Charter Logistics - Arrival Time: Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled departure for a safety briefing and boarding. - Pre-Boarding Setup: Early access (up to 30 minutes before departure) is available for guests wishing to set up decorations, food, or beverages. - Start Time: Charters begin at the reserved time, regardless of whether your full group has arrived. The TikiLa will depart once the host gives the captain the go-ahead. Harbor Policies & Safety Notes - No Fishing or Swimming is permitted from the vessel. The TikiLa does not anchor or beach during charters. - Restroom Access: A portable restroom is available onboard. The captain can also make stops at designated public restrooms along the harbor. - Dog-Friendly: We are happy to welcome well-behaved dogs aboard. - Balloon Ban: Mylar balloons are not permitted in Newport Harbor per city ordinance. Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy - Your charter is considered confirmed once payment is received and a confirmation has been issued. - We allow a one-time rescheduling based on availability prior to the original charter date. - Cancellations up to 30 days in advance may receive a 50% refund. - Cancellations within 30 days are refundable (50%) only if the time slot is rebooked by another client. - Cancellations within 7 days are non-refundable. - If a charter is canceled by the Captain due to unsafe weather or mechanical issues, you may choose to reschedule or receive a full refund. Parking & Local Tips - Parking can be difficult in Newport Beach, particularly on weekends and holidays. We recommend using a rideshare app when possible. - If driving, download the ParkMobile app ahead of time to streamline your metered parking experience.
