• Will I be taught how to drive the boat?

Yes. As part of the boat handover we will tell you everything you need to know about your craft. Then we will show you how the boat steers, handles and stops as we journey to your first lock. Our handover staff will ensure you and your crew know what you're doing before we leave you to enjoy your holiday. Our boats are easy to handle and most people get the hang of it very quickly, even if they have never done it before!

• What are the arrival or departure times?

Your boat will be ready for either 2 pm or 3 pm (we will let you know when we send you the booking confirmation) Please try to arrive at the time given so we can get your holiday underway without delay.

If you are going to be late we'd appreciate a call so we can ensure there is someone available to meet you. In the event of a severe delay there may not be enough daylight available for you to reach your first overnight mooring. In this event you will spend the night in the marina and we will get you underway first thing the next morning.

Boats need to be returned and vacated for 10 am, again if you know you'll be late please let us know.

• Do I need a licence to drive a boat?

No licence is required.

• Can I bring my fishing tackle?

There is good coarse fishing on the river except during close season (March - June). Many banks are owned by Angling clubs but this does not stop you fishing from the boat. Please return all fish and do not keep live bait on board.

• What should I bring with me?

We will supply bedding and towels, plus other essentials like loo paper and cleaning products and a small first aid kit. You will need to bring clothes, food, music, books, games and other things to do when you are not cruising. You will be outside a lot in British weather so bring something warm and waterproof and don't forget non slip footwear. There is a TV, although a picture is not always guaranteed. It does have a DVD player and there's also a DAB/FM radio with CD player that will dock with an ipod or similar. A torch is always handy for finding your way back from the pub.

• What cooking appliances are on board?

There is a four ring gas hob, gas oven and separate gas grill. There is also a microwave oven.
