Wildlife Expeditions (Duration: Morning Expedition 07:30 - 11:30, Afternoon Expedition 14:00 - 18:00) This wildlife expedition tour will immerse you in the rich marine life of the Moorea reef and lagoon ecosystems. You will experience: The crystalline waters of the sand bottom lagoon including a personal encounter with pink whipray stingrays and blacktip reef sharks drift through a channel towards the outer reef to observe leopard rays and grey sharks beneath you in the pass pelagic interactions with cetaceans including spinner dolphins, rough toothed dolphins, and humpback whales (seasonally) if conditions are permitting From mid-July to mid-November, humpback whales are present in our warm waters; they migrate from Antarctic waters to calve and reproduce. French Polynesia is one of the few places where it is possible to swim with them and observe them directly in their realm. The calves are particularly curious and are masters at eliciting memorable emotions from our guests. Frequently Asked Questions Do I need any previous experience to join? Although previous water experience is recommended, you will be given priority during our tours. What should I bring? If you have your own snorkeling or dive equipment, feel free to bring it along. If you are looking for a place to stay, then this is the place for you. We recommend bringing any camera (especially underwater equipped setups) that you may own to capture your experience. We highly suggest bringing sunscreen and towels for ultimate comfort during expeditions.Beverages, light snacks, and dry storage is provided onboard. Where is your company located and do you provide transportation? Our ships are located on the west side of the island. Parking is available to those who have their own transportation. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. What wildlife will we encounter? Moorea is bountiful with marine wildlife of various species. The humpback whale season begins mid-July and ends mid-November. Sharks, rays, dolphins, pelagic cetaceans, seabirds, sea turtles, and fish remain year round. Although the marine ecosystem of Polynesia is teeming with life we can not guarantee any specific species during your tour other than pink whiprays and blacktip reef sharks.
