This is a rental for overnight stay only, the vessel will not be operated by you or anyone else. Sleep aboard a classic 65' Marconi-rigged schooner, anchored in the calm, protected waters of Fisherman Bay. Wake up to a rotating view as the boat swings gently with the wind and tide — a different vista every time you look out. Sleeping aboard: Captain's quarters: king bed, couch, loveseat, built-in desk - Two cabins with bunks (sleeps 2 each) - Pilot house with surround seating that converts to two more single beds - Sleeps up to 8 Aboard amenities: - Two heads (bathrooms) with one walk-in shower - Full galley: stove, oven, fridge, and full-size chest freezer - Large front deck with lounge chairs; back deck with BBQ Games, towels, bedding, and dishes provided Getting there & getting around: Access is by rowing dinghy, kayak, or paddleboard — this is part of the adventure, not a shuttle service. We provide stand-up paddleboards, an adult kayak, up to three kids' kayaks, and a rowing dinghy. Let us know what you'd like waiting for you. Is this for you? This is a beautiful, well-loved old boat — she has real character, including the "boat funk" every seaworthy vessel earns over the years. If you're picturing a spotless floating hotel room, this isn't it. But if you're the kind of person who wants to row out to your bed, operate a propane stove like it's second nature, and fall asleep to water lapping the hull, you'll enjoy it here. Come experience Lopez Island — one of the friendliest islands in the San Juans — from the deck of a schooner. A true family adventure on the water. Your rental is the boat anchored in the calm, sheltered waters of Fisherman Bay. There will be no operating it. There's no dock to walk up to the boat — you'll row or paddle out from shore or dock, climb aboard via ladder, and settle in for a night unlike any land-based campsite. Getting aboard: Guests need to be reasonably nimble. You'll climb a ladder to board the schooner, and the same goes for getting in and out of the kayaks and paddleboards. If climbing a boat ladder or lowering yourself into a kayak sounds daunting, this may not be the right fit — but if you're up for it, it's part of what makes this stay memorable. On the water: Jump right off the deck for a swim in the bay. Paddle board out to watch the sunset from the water. Kayak around the anchorage at your own pace. Row the dinghy to shore or just to explore. On deck: Watch the sunset in true 360-degree fashion from the boat deck. Lay out after dark and watch the stars come out over the water. Feel the boat gently swing with the current — your view is never quite the same twice. Set your expectations: This is a working, well-loved boat — not a polished plush floating hotel. The floors have real scratches, the surfaces show their age, and things are a little rough around the edges. That's the character of a boat that's actually been sailed and lived on, not sat in a showroom. Come ready for the experience, not the perfection — the adventure of sleeping at anchor, swimming off the deck, and watching the sky do its thing over Fisherman Bay is the whole point. In the Area: Just a paddle away, you'll find an oceanfront restaurant and tiki bar with live music Friday and Saturday nights, plus Yoga by the Bay on Saturday mornings. It's a pleasant walk or bike ride into the village (under a mile) for great coffee — two coffee shops to choose from, a bakery, bookstore, art galleries, restaurants, an ice cream shop, and a village park with a kids playscape. Farmers market every Saturday. - Lopez Island is also full of ways to get outside: Shark Reef Sanctuary — forested trails and dramatic shoreline - Spit Preserve Beach — hunting for beach glass Iceberg Point — spectacular views - Watmough Head — picturesque beach Chadwick Hill — a longer hike with big payoff views - Odlin Park — sandy beach, great for sand castles - Spencer Spit - clamming
