Come and find the migratory and resident birds of Portugal on a 2.5 hour boat tour along our vast estuary, departing from Lisbon! This Nature Reserve, is a protected area of 34,000 hectares that welcomes about 50,000 birds yearly. Our educational boat tour is led by an expert ornithologist through one of Europe’s most important wetlands. You will develop essential birdwatching skills and learn the fundamentals of avian biology, migration ecology, and wetland conservation. With professional binoculars provided by our team, you will practice species identification techniques. Look out for purple herons, ospreys, avocets, spoonbills, flamingos, and a wide variety of duck species. For this birdwatching boat tour on the Tagus Estuary, you'll need to arrive at the meeting point in the Doca de Santo Amaro at least 15 minutes before your excursion starts. The crew will welcome you, check you in, and help you board the boat before giving you a thorough safety and activity briefing. Then the experience will start! Don't forget to bring sunscreen, a jacket or windbreaker, depending on the weather, closed comfortable shoes, and if you want, sunglasses. If you're prone to getting seasick, don't forget to take your medication an hour before the tour starts.
