-Number of Kayaks available for rent: 6 -Price for 1 Kayak (each kayak fits 1 person) per hour: 15 CAD -Price for 1 Kayak (each kayak fits 1 person) per day (must be returned before sunset): 50 CAD A unique experience that is amazing in so many ways. For $50 CAD/day you can rent a one person kayak and explore St. Esprit Lake and it’s islands, as well as kayaking to a thin sandbar that divides the lake from the ocean. Once you dock on this sandbar, the ocean is only a few steps away with an amazing view of the Atlantic Ocean on Cape Breton’s south coast as well as a unique island in the Atlantic Ocean called St. Esprit Island. St. Esprit Island has a unique reef that during low tide is very shallow. Walking to the right (west) when arriving at the ocean will lead you to the outlet where the lakes drains into the Atlantic. In the summer this is a very unique and esoteric experience where the warm St. Esprit Lake Waters (often in the 24-29 degree celcius range in July/August) clash with the cooler ocean waters (ranging from 16 Celsius in July to even 21-22 Celsius in august). It’s a unique experience to walk around at this water junction to experience this mixing of water sources.

1) Kayaks are only to be used on the St.Esprit Lake. Kayaking into the outlet that enters into the Atlantic Ocean is not permitted due to the strong current that would prevent you from returning back. 2) If there are high winds, scheduling may have to be changed due to the difficulty of paddling with headwind and high waves 3) If there is an onset of windy weather, it is important to kayak close to the shoreline where there is less wind and waves. The further you are from the shore, the more windy/wavy it will be and the tougher it will be to propel yourself forward. 4) Always plan ahead and check the weather for St. Esprit on ”The Weather Network“ for wind speed/gusts and stormy weather 5) It is mandatory to wear life jackets while kayaking. 6) When our listing displays a capacity of 6 guests we mean the following: -Number of Kayaks available for rent: 6 -Price for 1 Kayak (each kayak fits 1 person) per hour: 15 CAD -Price for 1 Kayak (each kayak fits 1 person) per day (must be returned before sunset): 50 CAD
