The most important factor, however, is water temperature. A Peacock Bass simply will not survive if the water temperature drops below 60°. Although Peacock Bass have thrived in South Florida since the start of their introduction in 1984, there is a "northern limit" to their habitat. The result is that the Southeastern Florida canal system, particularly the waterways in the Miami area, maintains the warmest water temperatures. It is in these waters that we fishes for Peacock Bass.   More information on peacock bass The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Division of Freshwater Fisheries oversees all the freshwater fish species and waterways of Florida.
