Come enjoy Akaroa by boat with Coast up Close! Charter this lovely boat for a half day or a full day of scenic wildlife viewing or fishing. Rates as low as $1500NZD for a half day. Rates: $1500NZD for a half day with up to 7 people $2500 NZD full day with up to 10 people 2.5 hour scenic wildlife cruises $85/adult and $40 for under 14 years. 10.15 am and 1.45 pm trips. The Boat: Wairiri means "angry waters" in Maori. We think she was built tough enough to deal with 'angry waters', but it's certainly not an issue for her now! She was originally a fishing boat built in Invercargill in 1964. Her double diagonal construction, makes her very strong and her twin engines help her maneuverability and reliability. Tony spent a year renovating and restoring her, so that you can enjoy a ride that is comfortable and close to the action. The Foredeck The foredeck has ample space for more than 15 people, and you are close to the waterline and all the animals. Top viewing deck More than 12 people can get an upstairs perspective from here. Wheel house & seating This is where you'll find Tony driving the boat--and there is seating for six people. The Saloon This space has a table and seating for around 10 people. The Back Deck This is a good place to do some fishing. Our boat also has a toilet on board and more seating below deck. Local Experience:: Tony has lived on Banks Peninsula since the 60s and has spent hundreds of hours diving and fishing these waters. He can confidently take Wairiri in to places that other operators can't: Haylocks & Damons Bay, up in to sea caves, close to where the little blue penguins nest, etc. Personal Service: Tony takes small groups and takes the time to walk around & talk with people individually (instead of using a PA system). He has travelled the world and enjoys meeting people from different countries & cultures Variety: Full day $2500 for up to 10 people. $100 per each extra person, up to Maximum group size of 20. Fishing charters (all gear provided) fishing 10 at a time. Half day charter $1500 for up to 7 people. $100 for each extra person up to a maximum of 15 people. Morning & afternoon cruises leave Akaroa main wharf & cost $85/adult & $40/child (1-14 years) Under 1 year old infants are free.
