Visit the Humboldt Penguin Nature Reserve on a boat tour where you can have a close encounter with blue whales, fin whales, humpbacks, dolphins and other marine wildlife. Learn traditional recipes on our cooking class - using only local ingredients. Have a good night sleep in a traditional fishing village and enjoy the silence. Visit a desert olive oil farm and get an introduction to olive oil preparation. The tour includes unforgettable memories, accommodation, two-days day guiding, nature reserve permits, water, breakfast (x2), lunch (x2), dinner, snack, transfer from and to La Serena. Along the way we will enjoy the scenery of the Atacama desert where we might see guanacos and desert foxes. Upon arrival to Caleta Chañaral de Aceituno, at approximately 11am, we will have one hour to relax with coffee and snacks. Before beginning the 2-3 hours whale-watching tour, our guide will give you a briefing to explain which cetacean species can be observed, safety measures on board, responsible whale watching guidelines, as well as some historical facts. While searching for whales, we will pass by the Island Chañaral to observe birds and other marine life. After the tour we will enjoy a locally prepared lunch in the village. After the lunch there is a free time in the village for the next two hours. After 6pm we will start our cooking class (focused on seafood, catch of the day) where you will learn traditional Chilean recipes using local ingredients. After dinner there is time to say good night, and have a good rest. There are different options for accommodation which depends on the total number of people on the tour. The accommodation is in a house shared between the tour participants. Usually there is an possibility for private rooms for 2 people, also shared option for solo travelers. • DAY 2: Caleta Chañaral de Aceituno to La Serena We will start a day around 8 am with some breakfast at the accommodation. Between 10 am to 12 pm there is opportunity to visit a viewing point nearby which gives some great photo-opportunities to Island Chañaral, alternatively you can also chose beach cleaning or free time. After 12pm we will head back to La Serena. On the way we will stop at an organic olive farm to learn about the preparation of olive oil. Arrive back to La Serena around 3 pm. Minimum Group Size Our trips can only leave if we have at least 6 people. We do our best to combine groups to make sure we're always able to take out tours. In the unlikely event we don't reach the group size threshold, we will reach out to you well in advance to attempt to re-schedule or refund you the entire cost of the trip.
