Whale Shark Tour In Isla Mujeres

The whale shark is a slow-moving filter-feeding shark and the largest known existing fish species. They have very large mouths, and as filter feeders they feed mainly on plankton, which are microscopic plants and animals. They are found in tropical and warm oceans and live in the open sea with a lifespan of about 70 years. The seasonal feeding aggregations occur at several coastal sites and that is why we get to see them near Isla Mujeres every year between May and September. In 2011 more than 400 whale sharks gathered off the Yucatan Coast. It was one of the largest gatherings of whale sharks. Whale sharks are docile fish and younger ones are gentle and can play with divers. Join us for one of the greatest experiences of your life and come swim with the Whale Sharks this summer. There is a maximum of 10 people on each boat according to the regulations so larger groups need to reserve in advance. Sometimes you can also see Devil rays as they feed on plankton. The tour inlcudes high quality snorkel equipment, sandwiches or ceviche, fruit, and non-alcoholic drinks. One of our experienced guides swims with 2 people at a time. The departure is every day at 8 am and you will have all the time you want to swim with the Whale Sharks. Price: $125 USD

We owe the name of our shop to the pirate Fermin Mundaca y Marechaga, who arrived in Isla Mujeres in 1860 fleeing from justice. The legend has it that he fell in love with a beautiful native and built a ranch for her. Hacienda Mundaca is now a tourist spot in Isla Mujeres. Antonio, the owner of Mundaca Divers, arrived to the island more than 30 years ago and fell in love with the sea surrounding it. Having been a commercial and industrial diver for Petroleos Mexicanos, he decided to settle in Isla given the amazing opportunities for diving. With almost 40 years of experience diving, Antonio founed Mundaca Divers in 1999 and has since recieved divers from all over the world. At Mundaca Divers we are always looking forward to improve our service and keep updated on tecnology and equipment. We have the best team of advisors, guides, and instructors to make your snorkeling, diving, or fishing tour amazing and unforgettable. Thank you for choosing us!
