The Jewel of Muscat Sea, Daymaniyat Islands Experience

Daymaniyat Islands are the jewel of Nature Reserves in Oman. They host migrating birds from Asia, Europe, and Africa, and a healthy population of green and hawksbill turtles. Daymaniyat is an archipelago of nine islands along the coast of Wilayat al Seeb (Muscat) and Wilayat Barka (see the attached map). They are surrounded by rocks and shallow seas which lie only 16-18 kilometers from the coast and can only be reached by boat. The islands were designated as a nature reserve on 3/4/1996 to conserve turtle nesting beaches, natural scenery, coral reefs, and birds, as well as promote ecotourism. Additionally, the islands are designated as UNESCO World Heritage site of grade “X” due to their importance in supporting migrating birds, whale sharks, turtles, and other marine life. On this tour, our experienced skippers will welcome you on board your purpose-built fully shaded speed boat and deliver the boat’s safety briefing. Then the tour will take you towards Daymaniyat Islands via Old Muscat and the view of old forts, then Fahal Island where Whale Sharks are usually frequent. Our team is always on the look for the last Whale Sharks sightings with other captains and local fishermen. Despite our best efforts we can’t guarantee seeing the Whale Sharks. Therefore, your skipper will assess the situation and consult with you to head to the snorkeling area earlier if that makes more sense. Once at Daymaniyat Islands, you can enjoy the views and dip in one of the many magical bays for a great swim and snorkeling session. Lunch boxes will be provided on board between snorkeling sessions according to your dietary requirements and choice. After that, your skipper will take you on a tour of the eastern Daymaniyat Islands before heading back to your hotel.
