Learn to Sail in Havre de Grace, MD (Minutes off of I95 in Historic Havre de Grace, MD)

Learn to sail on a Sunfish! Sailing on a Sunfish is both fun and exciting. Azure Maine offers 1/2 day sailing lessons, either 9AM - 12PM or 1PM - 4PM, with a USCG Captain/Licensed sailing instructor. The Sunfish offers a fantastic platform to learn the basics of sailing; with just the tiller and the sheet in hand, you'll be able to harness the power of the wind and call yourself a sailor. The lesson begins with an orientation on our Starratt & Jenks Morgan 45' sloop where you will be introduced to sailing terms and the parts of a sailboat. We will talk about safety on the water and the "rules of the road". From there, the instructor will take you out onto the Susquehanna Flats in our Highfield dinghy, towing the sunfish. The Susquehanna Flats are a large area of water at a depth of 4-5', providing an ideal location to learn to sail. After anchoring the dinghy, you'll hop on the Sunfish with the instructor and get started learning to sail. By the end of the first lesson, most students are able to sail the Sunfish by themselves! No need to worry though, the instructor will always be close by in the dinghy to provide instruction and assistance.  Please be aware that sailing on the Sunfish is a moderately strenuous physical activity that puts you in direct contact with the wind and the water and it is highly likely you will get wet.
