Last-Minute Changes & Cancellations
When it comes to being on the water, things can happen. The weather can change, boats can have unexpected maintenance issues, or schedule conflicts can arise without warning. Thankfully, Getmyboat has thousands of boat options in destinations worldwide, providing our team with options for rebooking customers in our Save the Day efforts.

When the boat company we booked canceled on us I was skeptical about the company (even after a previous fantastic boat day), but the customer service representative gained my trust immediately and helped to rectify the issue. 10/10 service. Refund Requests
It’s essential for customers to know that each listing's owner sets its cancellation policy. Getmyboat stands by each owner’s cancellation policy and issues refunds based on that policy, but is available to help both parties regardless of the situation.
If a renter cancels outside the owner's cancellation policy, a full refund will be processed minus Getmyboat's service fee, which is always non-refundable.
If the cancellation is requested within an owner's cancellation policy, a refund will only be processed if the owner authorizes one, and the customer service team can help to communicate between parties. The owner has the right to claim a partial or full payment if canceled within the terms of their cancellation policy, but many are flexible especially when it comes to issues of weather or if a renter wishes to reschedule for a different date.
Please note that even though Getmyboat helps process payments, the owner has the final say over whether or not a refund should be issued. If an owner does not agree or does not wish to refund, they are entitled to a full or partial payout per their cancellation policy.
If an owner cancels a booking, the renter will receive a full refund, including Getmyboat's service fee. The customer service team will help facilitate the refund.
Customer service was great, and it was easy to get a refund from a boat owner who stopped responding after promising one.
The GMB team was very responsive and customer-focused. They promptly offered a full refund when the captain we booked was a no-show.
Claim Disputes
Sometimes, accidents happen. While we hope everyone always has a fun and safe day on the water, it’s an unpredictable place where things happen. To handle these situations, Getmyboat holds a security allowance on each reservation. The security allowance is a protection in place for owners in case a renter incurs minor expenses while using their boat. This is fortunately uncommon, but it can include incidents like minor damage, cleaning fees, extra gas charges, or additional time out on the water. This is ONLY charged post-rental.
Any disputes regarding the claim should first be handled between the renter and the owner. If the dispute is not resolved, then Getmyboat will assess the evidence submitted by both parties and issue a payout to the owner or refund the renter’s credit card, depending on the conclusion.
Thankfully, it’s very uncommon for a security allowance claim to arise, especially when renters book captained charters. Over 70% of trips on Getmyboat are captained, minimizing the risk of damage caused by an inexperienced operator. Our team does their best to have claims resolved within a week, but sometimes resolutions may take longer. Any decision made by Getmyboat in regard to the claim is final. Any further action would have to be handled directly by the customer and the owner.
I was looking for a receipt, so I contacted support. I was emailed a receipt within 10 minutes, maybe 5. Then came a response from Edgard. He let me know that he sent the receipt and a little information about it. Then he made sure that was all I needed. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quickness of the response. If this is how Getmyboat's customer service is all the time, then it is top-notch. Thanks.
Communication between Owners & Renters
Can’t get in touch with a boat owner? Need to ask a renter a question about their reservation or itinerary? While Getmyboat allows for direct communication after a booking has been confirmed, we understand that sometimes getting in touch is challenging. Our team is happy to help resolve any issues and reach out on behalf of an owner or renter.

With the reality of the internet and online scams, it’s more important than ever to have a team of real people reviewing inquiries AND boat owners to ensure both sides are real people with good intentions. Getmyboat’s Team Joy is on the frontline for preventing fraudulent payments, illegal charters, and other security risks that come with the nature of online booking businesses.
The continued customer support on this booking was amazing! Very much appreciate the oversight GMB has for the boat owners. This was a strange one, as the person making the booking wasn’t going out and we hand next to no information on the passengers that were. GMB screened what they felt was suspicious (thank you) and it all turned out great! Every time I called in reference to this one (never had a situation like this), I was met with professionalism and amazing customer service! Great job GMB!!!
