About This Boat

The best way to see the natural beauty of Rainy Lake is with our houseboat! Rent and Stay on 36' Wanderer Houseboat for up to 5 people. Rates as low as $320 per day (2 days minimum). You can also rent some extras to spoil yourself! Houseboat Permits are required for Voyageurs National Park and subject to additional fee.

Rates:

• Per Day: $320 (2 days minimum)

• Plus 6.875% MN State Sales tax and 3% lodging tax

• Gasoline for houseboat and rental motors. (All fuel tanks are full on departure and refilled upon your return. You pay only for the fuel used.)
• Linen Packs (optional sheets and towels) $15.00 per person for the trip
• Hull Insurance (optional) $30.00 per day
• Pets (must have a pet carrier to sleep in) $15.00 per day – $75 per week
• Housecleaning Charge (if boat is returned in poor condition) minimum $100.00 charge

Rainy Lake holds countless walleye, trophy northern pike, abundant small mouth bass, and an excellent population of slab crappies. Rainy Lake is the largest and the most abundant fishery of the 5 lakes in Voyaguers National Park - Rainy, Crane, Kabetogama, Namakan, and Sand Point.

What To Expect Onboard:

The Hercules is a 50' Houseboat that can accommodate up 6 to 10 people.

Each houseboat includes a tow-behind fishing boat. Since a boat and motor are required with each houseboat rental, you may either bring a boat/motor or rent one from us. As a courtesy to our customers, each Monday and Friday we make a lake run and deliver items ordered, directly to your houseboat.

Houseboat Information

• The houseboat appliances (hot water heater, refrigerator / freezer / stove / oven / lights / space heater) all run on L.P. gas. This eliminates the need for a generator.
• There is no need for 120 volt outlets on the houseboat because everything is either LP or 12 volt. There is a 2-wire 12 volt receptacle and USB Port next to the helm of each boat. The 12 volt system is continuously re-charged by solar power. We do however offer 2500 watt Rental Generators for the fishermen to recharge their trolling motor batteries. You are welcome to bring your own generator. Generator operations must be carried out on shore.
• Remember to either reserve your linen packs two weeks in advance or bring your own sheets, sleeping bags and bath towels.
• All dogs must be on a leash at all times while at Northernaire Houseboats' base. If your dog will be traveling with you, it is required you bring a pet carrier. There is a pet fee and you will be charged for any damage caused.
• If you have a C-Pap machine just bring along an Inverter and we will furnish a Deep Cycle Battery for your sleeping needs.

Rental Requirements

Policies

Houseboat Permits are required for Voyageurs National Park. We will take care of all permits and apply the fee to your credit card at the time of reservations (non-refundable). Your permit will be ready on the day of your arrival.

Discounts

• May 1-31, 2017: 30% discount
• June 1-20, 2017 and August 20 to October 1, 2017: 20% discount • Midweek Special (Monday till Friday): 10%
• May or September: 4 Day rental for the price of 3

Deposit Policy

A deposit is required to secure your reservation. This deposit will be returned to you at the end of your houseboat trip, after a full inspection of the boat and equipment. Gas charges and any miscellaneous charges will be deducted from it. (Does not apply to the Aurora). Deposits will be refunded only if a written request for cancellation is received at least 30 days prior to the boarding date of your reservation. A $175 processing fee will be charged on all refunds. No exceptions. The Aurora's are non-refundable.

Departure

Your houseboat will be ready between noon and 2 p.m. No houseboat will be allowed to leave the dock after 5 p.m.

Check out at the office includes payment for houseboat rental, miscellaneous rental, and optional hull insurance. You will sign a bare-boat charter agreement that puts the responsibility of the boat in your hands, and be given a complete set of navigational maps.

Once you have unpacked and parked your vehicle in our lighted lot, a spot guide will give you a thorough orientation of the boat and its operations. They will guide you out on the lake approximately 4 miles, allowing you to drive the houseboat, read the navigational maps and buoys, and just feel comfortable with the boat - so you can relax and enjoy the beauty of Rainy Lake.

Return

The houseboat is required to be back by 9 a.m. on the day of your return.

When coming back to us, radio us when reaching Marker #10 and a guide will come out to your boat and drive it back to the dock, taking away all worries.
