About This Boat

Pingüino de Humboldt National Reserve or Damas Island

Price: 38000 p/p Chilean pesos, (it is not a private but a regular tour) including all the expenses: lunch in restaurant, boat tickets, transportation and Conaf tickets to disembark on Damas Island.

People are picked up between 08:00 and 08:30 and dropped off between18:00 and 19:00.

We first travel 120 km Northwest from La Serena, up to Punta de Choros fishing village, where we start a navigation tour of about 1.5 hour. There you will have the opportunity to watch a diverse and astonishing marine fauna such as Humboldt penguins, sea lions, chungungos (sea otters), pelicans, different kinds of cormorans and other interesting sea birds. And, with a bit of luck, we might see a group of bottle nose dolphins, the only one all along the South Pacific coast!

Then, we disembark on the idyllic Damas island, with white sand and clear water. Once back in the main land, we have lunch in a very good restaurant with a varied gastronomy.

As this excursion depends a lot on the weather conditions, we suggest people to take it in their first day here, so, if the conditions are not appropiate to navigate that morning, they can try the following or another day. On Mondays and Tuesdays of this season, it is not allowed to disembark on Damas island, but the tour is done anyway, because the main objective of this tour is seeing the fauna of the reserve.
