For people who love boating, Hvar does not disappoint. During peak season is when you see yachts take over. Boating enthusiasts flock in to enjoy the lavish scenery and lifestyle that Hvar has to offer.
Boat excursions involving groups of people to places like Pakleni Island are very popular in Hvar. They are the most affordable way to see the more exotic side of Hvar and enjoy yourself. By boat, you can visit the island’s most beautiful coves, beaches, and cliffs. Drop anchor and relax by the beach or go swimming, cliff jumping or snorkeling.
In Hvar, boat excursions are fun and are accompanied by great music, refreshing cold drinks, and friendly people.
If you don’t feel like going on a boat with strangers and want to tour the island on your schedule, you can rent a speedboat. Speedboat rentals come with a skipper who provides a private tour while you have some fun or relax. Most skippers chosen for the job are usually from Hvar and know the best spots for a more intimate experience. You can create your itinerary with their expert input.
If you want to be more in control, you can drive the speedboat yourself, provided you have a license. Yacht rentals are also available. If you don’t have a license, there are plenty of places where you can rent a small boat without one. Small boats are easier to handle for beginners, and you can always have a skipper if you need someone who’s more experienced.
Since Hvar is the party destination of Croatia, you can expect to attend some exciting boat parties. These are two exciting events worth mentioning:
The Hedonist Hvar Sunset Boat Party is one of the best boat parties that takes place during the summer. The boat features an open bar, and it sails in the areas around the Pakleni Islands. Party attendees enjoy breathtaking sunsets, music from world-famous DJs, drinks, and embrace the Hedonistic lifestyle.
The Yacht Week is a “series of boutique floating festivals set in 6 destinations around the world.” One of the stops is Hvar on what on as Hvarday. It's a huge party event that involves bar crawls, yacht sleep-aboard, and endless fun.
If boat parties aren’t your thing, you'll find plenty of things to do in Hvar Town. It's filled with world-class hotels and elegant restaurants for people to mingle with fellow travelers. Stop at one of many beach bars for a taste of the nightlife.
For travelers in need of physical activity, hiking Hvar is a fantastic choice. 45 minutes east of Hvar Town, you will discover Mekićevica Bay. It's a secluded spot for naturists and loved by swimmers and boaters who desire a little peace. There are also tiny islets and beaches all around Hvar with campsites for those looking to spend a night in nature.
ACI Marina Palmižana is a quiet and peaceful marina located in Hvar. It has over 200 berths, where boats up to 20-meters long can park. The marina is safe and sheltered, a perfect place for people who wish to get away from the city. Boaters will find themselves surrounded by beautiful natural surroundings, WiFi, electricity and drinking water, as well as money exchanges and dressing rooms. You can refuel your boat at Hvar Town, which is close by to the marina.
Hvar is a vibrant island in Croatia, best known for being an excellent summer resort. It's known as the "Queen of the Adriatic Sea" and is one of the most stunning Croatian Dalmatian islands. The beautiful weather, beaches, natural surroundings and the fun-loving people of Hvar make it the perfect holiday. The island is famous for its inland lavender fields, architecture, rich tradition, and natural features.
The best time to visit Hvar is between May and June and September and October. These "shoulder seasons" see warm temperatures but much smaller crowds. July and August are the peak months, where prices surge, and crowds fill the beaches. During peak summer, you'll experience blue skies and high temperatures. People also in enjoy the winters in Hvar because they are mild, some locals even swim year-round.
If you are arriving by plane, the island has two nearby airports: Brac and Dubrovnik. From there, you can take a local bus, taxi, or rent a car to your preferred destination in Hvar. From Dubrovnik or Split, there are frequent ferry transfers.
The perfect day on the water with an excellent captain! This is our first trip to Croatian and we wanted to experience the beauty of the islands. This was not a cookie cutter tour! Gordon had great stories filled with local knowledge about the islands, Croatia and so much more. We were taken to some very beautiful swimming spots away from all the crowds, snorkeled, dove in a cave and had a lovely lunch at a beautiful spot. We were not rushed at any point and were encouraged to take in the beauty that surrounded us. This experience was spectacular and I highly recommend Gordon(flash) for anyone wanting a unique and authentic experience.
Gordan was a wonderful host! He showed us all of the little beaches and gave history of the island. He has lived here his whole life, so knows way more than a normal tourist boat cruise could tell you. He let us stop and have lunch at a lovely restaurant he recommended, and then we swam in the water with no rush even though we were already over our agreed upon time. We will definitely be doing this again if we come back to Hvar, recommend to any group!
WOW. We could not have a better experience on our boat day with Emil and Luka (our skippers) in Hvar. The boat itself was gorgeous as were all of the unique stops our skippers curated for us. We visited several islands and the blue cave all without crowds, which allowed us to experience the true beauty of Croatia. It was the best day of our vacation thanks to our skippers who went above and beyond. I recommend this to anyone (both Croatians and non-natives) as it was the perfect day! Thank you to Emil and Luka again for everything!
Amazing experience. We had a perfect day on the boat with friends. The captain was phenomenal and Luca the host was great and provided such a fun day for us all. We all had a wonderful time and enjoyed the day fully. Thank you for a great boat day!!!
Branco takes good care of his passengers and is an excellent captain and tourguide. The vessel has all necessary amenities which allow you to travel very comfortably. I think we were lucky to go with him, another captain wouldn't have shown us the authentic, lesser touristic places Croatia offers.
Incredible day out! Our skipper took us to beautiful places and was so lovely :)
