Our specially made RIB boats allow you to get closer to the whales and wildlife than any other boat can offer. The RIBs and small and fast boats that get you to the viewing area quickly and cover a big area as we search for the wildlife. Sea Angling is a great sport for groups and team building. The most commonly caught fish on our tours are cod, haddock, pollock and catfish. If you are lucky, you might even catch a giant halibut! We provide all the equipment needed for fishing and assistance by experienced guides. The sea angling tour is included in our whale watching trip and also as special tours for individuals and groups of all sizes.
Each tour takes about 2.5-3 hours because we actually don’t have to sail far to catch quality fresh healthy fish, most of the time we catch codfish but also halibut and haddock. Our captains work as fishermen during winter time and we can almost guarantee that if you give sea angling a try, you will not come back to shore empty-handed.

What You Can Expect:
Whale watching is our life and joy. We live by the Eyjafjörður bay and are privileged to have all these wonderful creatures swimming in the ocean within reach. We cannot wait for you to meet them. The tours include Whale Watching with whales spotted in all our tours last year.
As we set sail to reach the whales, our guides – who are locals and highly experienced, will make an effort to make you feel as comfortable as possible. You’ll receive warm overalls and there are blankets on board. To ensure that the animals are not disturbed by our presence, we sail at a constant speed towards the whales’ habitat. As a result, a variety of species, from humpback whales to tiny porpoises, often surface within a few feet of the boat. When we reach the whales we’ll make sure not to disturb them with loud noises or sharp movements. Respect for the whales is key to our tour.
The 100% Whale Watching tour is exactly the same tour as our classic Whale Watching & Sea Angling tour but without the sea angling part at the end of the tour. This way you can enjoy our beautiful whales and fantastic Eyjafjörður fjord even more!
This is a fully guided tour and we offer coffee and homemade pastries.

Husavik is known as the Whale Capital of Iceland and is located in the northern part of the country on the eastern shore of Skjalfandi Bay.

The Silfra fissure in Þingvellir National Park is a great place to dive in because of it is incredible visibility and underwater landscape. The water of Silfra is melt water from Iceland‘s second largest glacier, Langjökull. The glacier is 50 kilometres away, and the water travels for over 30 years through the lava fields before flowing into Silfra river. This filtering process makes Silfra‘s water as clear as water can be. Divers experience a visibility of over 100 metres and can drink the water on their dives.
Divers will be diving between the continents because the Silfra fissure is the result of the American and Eurasian continental plates drifting apart.
Before you gear up, your guide will walk with you to the platform and give you a diving briefing. Since the water is between 2° and 4°C, the dives are conducted in dry suits. If you have not dived in a dry-suit before, your guide will show you how to use it. After the first dive, you will be offered coffee and snack before going for the second dive. The tour lasts between 6 and 8 hours in total. All necessary equipment is provided, including undergarments that will keep you warm and comfortable under your dry-suit.

Whale watching in Reykjavík

Our tours are a unique experience and we do our best to make this a lifetime experience for you.
All year round you’ll be able to see a variety of whales by the coast, from the Minke, Humpback and Killer whales to White-Beaked Dolphins and Harbour Porpoises. The high peak season for whale watching is from April to October, but of course the ocean is always full of adventures. You can see all the other aquatic species, all sorts of wildlife and at the same time enjoy the splendid scenery around the coast of Iceland.
Our ship is comfortable and warm and suits very well for Whale Watching.
There are outdoor viewing platforms and a large indoor saloon with toilet facilities and free Wi-Fi. Those who want to visit the captain are welcome to do so.
Sandwiches, snacks, coffee, tea, beer and soft drinks available on board. There also is free Wi-Fi on board.
We are conveniently located at the old harbour which is downtown Reykjavik. Whale Watching tours depart at 9:00 / 13:00 / 17:00 from Old Harbour in Reykjavik (our office is at the waterfront).
If you don’t see a whale, you have the option to take the tour again for free.
Please be aware that due to environmental reasons during certain times of the year our trips may be delivered on a shared boat with one of our partners. At Reykjavik Sailors we are committed to ensuring the environment is kept pristine by making sure fewer boats are on the water during slower periods.
Please note: Whale Watching is a natural activity governed by the laws of the weather. If the trip is cancelled due to bad weather, the Whale Watching ticket will be refunded if you didn’t join the tour before.
