There are many different options for public water on the Yampa and Elk rivers as listed below. In order to provide you with the best possible experience the guide will choose the best water for that day. Yampa River Stagecoach Tailwater: The Stagecoach tailwater is a small stretch of river about six tenths of a mile long directly below the Stagecoach reservoir. This small stretch has a very high population of large trout, however, most are very educated forcing the angler to fish very small flies and light tippet. This tailwater stretch is one of the best opportunities an angler can find to sight cast to picky fish, however it can become crowded.
