Traditional Ocean to Ocean Dugout-Style Canoes (Cayuco)
For $90 per person/hour in Panamá, you may experience the trill of paddling a real Ocean to Ocean Cayuco Race vessel! Our cayucos are special, they represent a 65+ year process of evolution that begun with the original Emberá Tribe aboriginal dugouts they were born from. Nowadays cayucos are slick canoes, very different from any other common canoes worldwide due to their specific weight, lack of counterbalance (such as hawaiian or polinesian canoe), typical accesories different shapes, sizes and colors. The big race, how we call it, allows for different size cayucos, rangin from 4 to 12 seaters, but the standard is the 4 seater. Our boats are standard, either wooden or fiberglass hulls (or a mix of the 2), with the most modern-traditional stuff in them, just like the race itself. Come have a different paddling experience with us, either on the Chagres Rivers (the main source of water for the Panama Canal) or the Pacific Ocean (Inner waters off Panama Bay) Special prices and dates for Carribean side paddling (remember our vessels go from the Atlantic to the Pacific through the Panama Canal during the big race, year after year! ) Trips may be appointed for inner bay areas on the Carribean side. Ocean to Ocean Cayuco Race is a brand that belongs to CREBA. 2 person crew will assist paddlers on each 4 seater cayuco. Trailer transport from drydock to paddling site included, paddlers may ride with us to site. Best enjoyed during our dry season from Dec to April, but enjoyable all year round, better early mornings to avoid extreme solar radiation, rain or wind. Total experience, including transport may take between 3-4 hours, origin to site to origin.
