Explore the Negombo Lagoon & Muthurajawela Wetland on a boat ride tour near Colombo, Sri Lanka. Glide through mangrove forests, spotting diverse wildlife and learning about the area's ecological and cultural significance. We pick up our clients from the hotel and then drive into our boat yard near to “Attanagalu river mouth. Then we boat to the canals which are covered with mangrove plants & bird nests around. Here keep your eyes open you are able to see a few reptiles like - Asian water monitor (Varanus salvator)/ saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus). Then we are into Negombo Lagoon from its north part first we move near to the banks where you can see a lot of Birds and endemic primates to Sri Lanka - Toque Macaque. Local fishermen and traps for fish called “Mas Athu” will be highlighted in this part of the tour. We stop at the small island which disappears in high tide. You can walk around the small island where you can see the tree adaption to the salt & less oxygen water and its ecosystem. Finally, we come back to the boatyard. Travelers can extend the tour if they want to traditional way of fishing in the lagoon and make some delightful fish dish with us.
